FCC Report 4/2: Big Translator Moves Into Phoenix & Milwaukee

Riviera Broadcasting Hot AC "Hot 97.5/103.9" KMVA Dewey-Humboldt/KZON Gilbert AZ looks to have found a way to improve its coverage in downtown Phoenix as Rocket Radio Corporation's 97.3 K247CF Payson AZ applies to change city-of-license to Mesa while moving to the South Mountain antenna farm with 99w/465m rebroadcasting 103.9 KZON. Frank Glass McCoy's 103.3 W277CV Waukegan IL seeks a Mattoon Waiver to move to the WDJT-TV tower just north of downtown Milwaukee as the Whitefish Bay School District has requested the dismissal and deletion of its Construction Permit for what would have been 103.3 WFBW-LP Whitefish Bay. W277CV would operate with 250w/255m rebroadcasting Mike Crute's recently launched Liberal Talk "NewsTalk 1510" WRRD Waukesha/Milwaukee.

Syracuse Swap Revised Using Another Loophole

Family Life Ministries and Foxfur Communications have resubmitted their station swap to the FCC. The only change to the original deal is that Foxfur will no longer be operating 92.1 WOLF-FM Baldwinsville NY via Time Brokerage Agreement until the deal closes. Instead they have exploited another FCC loophole by granting Family Life consent to rebroadcast their 1300 WOSW Oswego NY until the deal closes. While WOSW was running Sports simulcasting sister “Fox Sports 1490” WOLF, it is now technically the originating station for the Country programming of WOLF-FM until the swap with Family Life closes. Original Report 6/15: The FCC has denied WOLF Radio/Foxfur Communications and Family Life Ministries swap of three Syracuse NY area stations and one translator and is fining Foxfur $20,...[Read More]

Syracuse’s Wolf On The Move As Family Life Swaps Again

Update 5:45pm: Country 105.1 WOLF-FM/96.7 WWLF-FM made the move to 92.1 at 5:00 this afternoon as “92.1 The Wolf“. Original Report 3/29 11:25am: Syracuse will see another station move to a new frequency as Family Life makes another deal in the market. Family Life closed on its acquisitions of 92.1 WSEN-FM Baldwinsville and 106.3 WMCR-FM Oneida NY from Leatherstocking Media Group, but only WMCR-FM began airing the Family Life programming. After spending a week simulcasting Galaxy Communications Classic Hits “Sunny 102” WZUN as Galaxy merged WSEN’s intellectual property into their station, 92.1 is now airing the programming of Craig Fox’s Classic Hits “95.3/103.9 The Dinosaur” 103.9 WNDR-FM/95.3 W237AY. That came about as Family Life has agreed...[Read More]

WSEN-FM Syracuse On The Move?

In late December, Family Life Ministries purchased Classic Hits 92.1 WSEN-FM Baldwinsville/Syracuse NY from Leatherstocking Media Group. Will the current brand now be headed elsewhere in the market? Anonymous domain registrations were made yesterday for 1021WSEN.com, 102WSEN.com, WSEN102.com and WSEN1021.com. 102.1 is currently WZUN Communications Classic Hits “Sunny 102.1” WZUN Phoenix NY, which was reacquired by Galaxy Communications late last year. Family Life acquired WSEN-FM and 106.3 WMCR-FM Oneida NY for $2.5 million. Following the original assignment application, Family Life amended its plans and no-longer intends to convert 92.1 WSEN-FM to non-commercial status. Will another deal be coming to send the license to another commercial operator in the market?
