After iHeartMedia lost its LMA of Immanuel Broadcast Network’s 92.3 W222AF Marietta/Atlanta GA last week, the translator is now operating as Urban “Power 92.3 Jams” under the operation of Enoch Kirkwood and Larry Edwards’ Media One Broadcasting. The translator is now rebroadcasting Cox Media Group’s 97.1 WSRV-HD3 Gainesville, but operating via STA with 7.5w/256m from the tower utilized by 88.5 WRAS, 94.1 WSTR and multiple translators. The new “Power 92.3 Jams” takes on the programming that was recently heard on Cumulus Media’s 101.5 WKHX-HD2 as “Jams 101“. W222AF joins a crowded Hip-Hop landscape in Atlanta that already includes Urban One’s “Hot 107.9” WHTA, Entercom’s “V103” WVEE, iHeartMedia...[Read More]
iHeartMedia Urban “96.7 The Beat” WRDG Union City GA is the second Atlanta market station to lose its translator signal today as 92.3 W222AF Marietta was taken off the air. Unlike Cumulus’ W255CJ there was no FCC involvement at play, but rather Immanuel Broadcasting Network, which leased the translator to iHeartMedia, has found a new operator for it with the expiration of its current lease. W222AF is currently off the air and we have yet to confirm who will assume operation of W222AF. W222AF covers Atlanta and its northern suburbs with 99w/247m. It was most recently used to give the south suburban based WRDG a signal in Atlanta proper. Combined the two signals received a 0.7 share in the February 2018 Nielsen Audio ratings.

Update 9/28: At 3pm today, WGST dropped News/Talk in favor of Spanish Sports “640 ESPN Deportes“. The flip pairs WGST with sister Regional Mexican “105.3 El Patron” WBZY in a combo that is identical to the El Patron/ESPN Deportes combo Clear Channel has in Chicago as well. The ESPN Deportes network briefly aired in Atlanta on Beasley’s 1100 WWWE in 2010. No details yet on whether any of WGST’s other programs will move to other stations. The old WGST website is directing listeners to the site of 1160 WCFO for coverage of Georgia State Football that had aired on the station. Original Report 9/26: The News/Talk format of Clear Channel’s 640/92.3 WGST Atlanta will soon be no more as Rush Limbaugh moves crosstown to Cox’ 750/95.5 WSB. Limbaugh wil...[Read More]
Update 8/29 7:30pm: Just after 7:00pm, 96.1 dropped its “Project” format and has begun stunting for an hour leading into the launch of “Power 96.1“. Update 8/29 5:30pm: 96.1 WKLS will flip to CHR as “Power 96.1“. Power961.com was registered earlier this week and currently features a full site for “Atlanta’s New Hit Music Station”. The site seems to indicate a more Mainstream CHR approach to what Clear Channel is currently doing on “Wild 105.7/96.7“. The current occupant of 96.1, Alternative “Project 9-6-1” which we expect to relocate to 105.3, is promoting what can best be described as “a sad announcement” at 7:20 Thursday morning. Update 8/9: Clear Channel has registered an additional four domains ei...[Read More]

In Cleveland, CC has amended its application to move 99.7 W259BI Lorain, OH to 99.1 Cleveland. As Ohio Media Watch stated, there doesn’t appear to be any difference with the previously rescinded. 640 WGST Atlanta has signed on its translator. 92.3 W223AF covers the north and east sides of Atlanta proper with 99 watts. Way Media’s 105.1 W286BK Birmingham, which is leased to Cle...[Read More]
