Cumulus Adds Woody Show In Kansas City, New Orleans & Salt Lake City

Following the addition of Premiere Networks’ The Woody Show at AAA 104.5 KFOG San Francisco/97.7 KFFG San Jose last month, Cumulus Media is adding the show at its Alternative stations in Kansas City, New Orleans and Salt Lake City. The Woody Show will debut on “Alt 92.3” WRKN Laplace/New Orleans, “Alt 101.9” KHTB Ogden/Salt Lake City, and “X105.1” KCJK Garden City/Kansas City on Monday, May 21. WRKN had been jockless in mornings, while The Woody Show replaces Fook and Lindsey at KHTB and Shawn Quinn at KCJK. Cumulus Media has hired Paul Cannell as Program Director of Alternative “Alt 92.3” Laplace/New Orleans and Country “Nash-FM 106.1” WRKN Picayune MS. Cannell most recently programed Sunrise Broadcasting Alternative “Modern Rock 98.7” WRMR Jacksonville NC. His programming career includes stops at WMFX Columbia SC, KOOJ Baton Rouge, KTUX Shreveport, and WKLR Richmond VA. Cumulus Media has moved Alternative “106.1 The Underground” WZRH Picayune MS to 92.3 WRKN Laplace LA as “Alt 92.3“, while Country “92.3 Nash-FM” moves in reverse to 106.1. The move places the Alternative format on the stronger signal in the market as well as allowing it to serve Baton Rouge and Houma. This is a return to a Rock based format for the signal as it was “Rock 92.3” from 2010-2014. Cumulus Media has promoted Talus Knight PD of Urban “Power 102.9” KKND Belle Chasse and Urban AC “Old School 106.7” KMEZ Port Sulpher/New Orleans LA to Operations Manager for the company’s New Orleans cluster. Along with Knight’s promotion Shawn Williams has been upped to Assistant Program Director of Country “Nash FM 92.3” WRKN LaPlace and Alternative “106.1 The Underground” WZRH Picayune MS. Cumulus has named John Boyle as the new Program Director of Country “92.3 Nash-FM” WRKN and Alternative “106.1 The Underground” WZRH New Orleans. Boyle comes to New Orleans from sister “95 Rock” 95.9 WSJZ Melbourne FL, where he served as the station’s first PD following its flip from Sports. Update 1/6: 92.3 WRKN has flipped to Country as “Nash-FM 92.3“. Cumulus announces the launch today of NASH FM 92.3, marking Cumulus’s Country entrance into New Orleans. NASH FM 92.3 joins the growing list of NASH-branded Country stations. Cumulus will eventually have more than 60 owned-and-operated Country stations operating under the NASH brand. Cumulus launched the NASH entertainment brand based on the Country music lifestyle in January 2013 with the flagship NASH FM 94.7 in New York City.
