More Power And Classic Hip-Hop In Reno

Reno Media Group launched Classic Hip-Hop “Power 92.5” K223AL/KLCA-HD3 Reno NV on Friday, March 4. Launching with 92 1/2 days of commercial-free music, K223AL becomes the second Classic Hip-Hop station in the Reno market going up against Cumulus’ “95.5 The Vibe” KNEV which launched in October 2015. The new Classic Hip-Hop format on 92.5 becomes its fifth format since Reno Media Group acquired the translator from Family Stations in 2014. It most recently flipped from Active Rock “Crusher 92.5” to Oldies last September and then to a simulcast of AC “106.9 More-FM” KRNO in December.

Oldies Crushes 92.5 Reno

Reno Media Group has flipped Active Rock “92.5 The Crusher” K223AL/KLCA-HD3 Reno to “Oldies 92.5“. The new 60s centric Oldies format gives an older skewing flanker to sister Classic Hits “103.7 The River” KODS. This is the third format already for the translator since it was acquired from Family Radio in early 2014. It debuted as Modern AC “Little City” before flipping to Active Rock last September.

Update 9/9: Americom has dropped the Modern AC “Little City” format from 92.5 K223AL Reno/96.5 KLCA-HD3 just six months after demoting it from the 100kW 97.3 KOLC signal. Ten Country 97.3 Debuts In Reno

Update 3/5: KOLC debuted its new identity as Country “Ten Country @ 97.3” at 12pm today. Promising to always play “10 songs in a row”, the station is taking direct aim at Cumulus’ “K-Bull 98.1” KBUL. The station’s introductory Facebook message states, We just signed on the air at noon today. Northern Nevada has a brand new country radio station. Unlike the other country stations, we play lots and lots of music — ALWAYS at least 10 songs in a row!
