iHeartMedia flipped CHR “93.1 The Party” KPLV Las Vegas to Variety Hits “93.1 The Mountain” at noon today. The format change restores the Variety Hits format to the market for the third time. CBS operated “100.5 Jack-FM” KKJJ from June 2005 through August 2010, while Beasley Media had “107.9 Bob-FM” KVGS from October 2011 through January 2015. David Black joins the station from sister “Z107.9” KDZA Pueblo CO as “Mountain Man Dave” to serve as APD and voice of the station. The two local hosts at The Party will move within the cluster. Update 4/17: The “What Is 93.1?” stunting came to an end this morning as KPLV relaunched as “93.1 The Party“. The move back to its previous name comes with a slight Rhythmic lean for KPLV. Recently hired Big D will remain in mornings, Claire moves from afternoons to middays, which Johiah remains in nights. Mack with Nina & Nick based at sister “Y100” WHYI Miami will also be heard on KPLV in afternoons. “93.1 The Party” originally launched in Las Vegas as a Rhythmic AC in 2006. One of many stations playing a form of CHR in the Las Vegas market, KPLV’s 3.0 share ranked it 16th among subscribing stations in the May PPM monthlies.
