Maire Mason Joins SBS As New York VP/GM

Following Eric Garcia’s exit from his role as VP/GM of Spanish Broadcasting System’s Spanish AC “93.1 Amor” WPAT-FM Paterson NJ and Spanish Tropical “Mega 97.9” WSKQ New York to become Director of Radio Sales at Univision New York, SBS has tabbed veteran New York manager Maire Mason to fill his position. Mason joins SBS from Cumulus Media where she has served as VP/GM of Country “Nash-FM 94.7” WNSH since March 2015 and previously as General Sales Manager starting soon after the station’s launch in 2013. Eric Garcia has exited his positions as Audio Revenue Chief of Spanish Broadcasting System and VP/GM of Spanish AC “93.1 Amor” WPAT-FM Paterson NJ and Spanish Tropical “Mega 97.9” WSKQ New York. Garcia joined SBS in 2004 as an Account Executive for WPAT/WSKQ before rising to National Sales Manager in 2010, VP/Sales in 2011, and his current positions in October 2014. His father Joseph Garcia serves as Secretary, Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, and member of the Board of Directors of SBS. SBS Makes Big Cuts In New York

Spanish Broadcasting System has made numerous cuts at its New York cluster. Sources indicate that more than a dozen staffers were let go from Spanish AC “93.1 Amor” WPAT-FM Paterson and Spanish Tropical “Mega 97.9” WSKQ-FM New York including WSKQ afternoon co-host Janeiro Matos, overnight host DJ Jumpin Jay, weekend host JI Starr and cluster News Director Renato Morffi. Other cuts were made in the programming and promotions departments. The cuts were made after the station agreed to a new contract with afternoon co-host Frederick ‘El Pacha’ Martinez who had been off the air since mid-December when his contract expired. WPAT-FM Debuts La Bodega In The Morning

Spanish Broadcasting Systems’ Spanish CHR “93.1 Amor” WPAT-FM Paterson NJ/New York has announced the debut of its new “La Bodega de la Mañana” morning show. Hosted by Bolivar ‘El Boli’ Valera and Arlette Borrelly, the show continues the station’s focus on the Dominican population in the New York market. Both hosts are natives of the Dominican Republic. ‘El Boli’ was a known actor and television host in the country and most recently hosted mornings at “KQ 94.5” in Santo Domingo. Luis Jimenez Exits WPAT New York; Calls Management Hitler Wannabees

Just months after joining SBS Spanish AC “Amor 93.1” WPAT-FM Paterson, NJ/New York, Luis Jiminez has walked away from his syndicated morning show. Jimenez joined WPAT in February to lead “Sin Censura con Luis Jimenez” and syndicated nationally via SBS’ Aire Radio Networks. It was his second time working for SBS as he previously led “Vacilon de la Mañana” on “Mega 97.9” WSKQ-FM from 1993 to 2007. He then jumped to Univision for a syndicated show that aired in New York on “Latino Mix 105.9” WCAA and later “X96.3” WXNY until it was cancelled last July. Luis Jiminez Joins WPAT-FM New York

The one-time most listened to morning host in New York is joining SBS Spanish AC “93.1 Amor” WPAT-FM Paterson, NJ/New York. Luis Jimenez, who led “El Vacilón de la Mañana” at SBS’ “Mega 97.9” WSKQ-FM from 1993 until 2007 will return to the company starting on Thursday, February 12. In 2004, Jimenez’ star peaked when his show knocked Howard Stern off his perch as the most listened to morning show in New York.
