Beasley Media Rock 93.3 WMMR Philadelphia has filled its live overnight slot with the promotion of Brent Porche from weekends. Porche has worked weekends and off-air at WMMR for the past 11 years. He fills the overnight slot (one of the rare live overnight shows remaining in this industry) vacated by Jacky Bam Bam’s move to nights when Matt Cord shifted to mornings at sister Variety Hits “95.7 Ben-FM” WBEN-FM at the start of this year. Beasley Media Variety Hits “95.7 Ben-FM” WBEN-FM Philadelphia will debut a new morning show hosted by Matt Cord and Kristen Herrmann on Tuesday, January 3. Cord joins WBEN-FM from sister Rock 93.3 WMMR where he has hosted nights since 2005. He also hosted afternoons at Alternative “Y100” WPLY. Herrmann is Production Director for WBEN-FM and hosted middays at the station. The duo replace Marilyn Russell, who exited when Beasley took over the station from Greater Media in November. Overnighter Jacky Bam Bam will move to nights at WMMR.
Joe Bell is returning to Beasley Media as Market Manager for the company’s Philadelphia operations. Bell ran Beasley Miami from 1999 through the sale of its cluster to CBS in 2014. He exited CBS in July 2015 and later joined Brewer Media Chattanooga in the same role. Prior to coming to Miami, Bell served as GM of 680 WPTF Raleigh. Bell will oversee a cluster that includes Rock 93.3 WMMR, Variety Hits “95.7 Ben-FM” WBEN-FM, Sports “97.5 The Fanatic” WPEN, Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK, Sports 610 WTEL, Christian 800 WTMR, and Brokered Talk 860 WWDB. A series of reports this week have come out surrounding Greater Media and its operations. Tom Taylor Now reported last Thursday on talk that the company is seeking to sell News/Talk 1110 WBT/99.3 WBT-FM and Hot AC “107.9 The Link” WLNK Charlotte NC stations and that Beasley may be interested. Taylor followed up this morning with a report that Greater Media has had some of its properties on the trading block for at least a year.
