WEEI Boston Swaps Midday & Afternoon Shows

Entercom Sports 93.7 WEEI-FM Boston and its eight station network is debuting a new on-air lineup on Monday, August 13 as it rearranges its midday and afternoon talent. Midday hosts Glenn Ordway, Lou Merloni and Christian Fauria will move to the 2-6pm timeslot currently held by Dale Arnold and Rich Keefe, who will make the reverse move to 10am-2pm. The move is being done to bring Ordway and Arnold back to the dayparts they are most associated with. Both men were part of WEEI’s original lineup when it flipped to Sports in 1991, Arnold co-hosted middays with various partners from then until 2011 when he moved to weekends. Michael Holley Exits Afternoons At WEEI Boston

Michael Holley is departing as afternoon co-host at Entercom Sports 93.7 WEEI-FM Lawrence/Boston MA. Holley announced that today is his final day at the station as he is departing for a full-time position NBC Sports Network Boston. He has hosted “Celtics Now” for the network since 2008. Entercom Boston Market Manager Mark Hannon states that Holley turned down a multi-year contract extension with WEEI. Holley joined WEEI in 2005 as midday co-host alongside Dale Arnold. He was moved to afternoons alongside Glenn Ordway in 2011, with Mike Salk becoming his cohost in 2013 and Arnold reteaming with him in 2014 and Rich Keefe later joining the duo. The New England Patriots will continue its mastery of the Boston sports radio battle by continuing to split its programming between the two big Sports talkers in the market. Entercom Sports 93.7 WEEI-FM Lawrence/Boston MA has announced its replacements for former Program Director Kevin Graham. Joe Zarbano has been promoted from Assistant PD to PD overseeing all audio content for WEEI-FM, the WEEI Sports Radio Network, the Boston Red Sox Radio Network and “ESPN 850” WEEI. Zarbano has been with the station for nine years starting as an intern. John Dennis Exits WEEI Morning Show

John Dennis is stepping down as co-host of Entercom Sports 93.7 WEEI-FM Boston’s “Dennis & Callahan” morning show. While Dennis has been off the air in recent weeks due to a reported feud with co-host Kirk Minihane and a deteriorating relationship with longtime co-host Gerry Callahan, the announcement from WEEI states his departure is for medical reasons. Dennis’ contract was set to run until September 2017. Following a twenty year career as a television sportscaster in the Boston market, Dennis and Gerry Callahan joned 850 WEEI for middays in 1997 and moved to mornings in 1999 replacing Don Imus’ syndicated talker. Mikey Adams Exits WEEI Nights

Entercom Sports 93.7 WEEI-FM Lawrence/Boston is making a change in nights. After eleven years in the 6-10pm slot, “Planet Mikey” with Mikey Adams has been cancelled with Adams exiting the station. Boston.com reports that the station will not immediately fill the vacancy as the station has Boston Red Sox baseball on most nights at least through the end of September. Entercom Boston Market Manager Phil Zachary told Boston.com that, “We made a tough call on Mike but, at the same time, we feel there are some innovative opportunities we’d like to explore over the next few months. As you know, WEEI has extensively–and successfully–revamped every major weekday show over the last three years. The time is right to extend that thinking to nights.”

WEEI Extends Boston Red Sox Rights Through 2023

Entercom Sports 93.7 WEEI-FM Lawrence/Boston has extended its deal to remain the flagship station for Boston Red Sox baseball through the 2023 season. WEEI has held the rights to the Red Sox since 1995 with the games airing on 850 WEEI until the primary local Sports format moved to 93.7. From 2007 through 2009 most games aired on sister Talk 680 WRKO with WEEI carrying the rest. While no terms were disclosed, The Boston Globe reported earlier this month that the two sides were discussing a deal between $15 million-$17 million per year. That would be a reduction from the $20 million per year Entercom had been paying on the 10 year deal that expires at the end of this season. Glenn Ordway Returns To WEEI

After exiting the station in February 2013 following a 27 year run including 18 in afternoon drive, Glenn Ordway is coming home to Entercom Sports 93.7 WEEI-FM Boston. Ordway will rejoin WEEI on Tuesday, September 8 as the new 10am-2pm co-host at the station joining former New England Patriot Christian Fauria and former Boston Red Sox Lou Merloni. He takes the spot that had been held by Tim Benz. Benz exited WEEI in July to be closer to his family in Pittsburgh. Update 7/30: The Boston Globe reports that Fox will restore it advertising to Entercom’s stations and once again allow its employees to appear on-air following the one-week suspension of WEEI’s Kirk Minihane. WEEI Continues Lineup Revamp

Entercom Sports 93.7 WEEI-FM Boston and its network of affiliates across New England is continuing the revamp of its staff. Joining the station are Tim Benz, who current serves as Host/Sports Director at Clear Channel’s “ESPN 970” WBGG Pittsburgh and former New England Patriots Tight End Christian Fauria. The duo will join incumbent (and former Boston Red Sox) Lou Merloni in the 10am to 2pm midday slot titled ‘Middays with MFB’. Mike Mutnansky had been co-hosting the midday show with Merloni. Update 8/21: As first rumored the day Jason Wolfe was let go, Kevin Graham of Cumulus’ 1320 KFNZ Salt Lake City has been hired as Brand Manager of WEEI. Graham, who has worked at many Sports stations across the country including WEPN New York, KTAR Phoenix, WBNS Columbus, and WXYT Detroit, will oversee all content on WEEI, its regional network, the Boston Red Sox radio network, and WEEI.com. He will however, have one less asset to work with as Entercom will not renew their contract with the Boston Celtics to remain as the flagship station for the team’s broadcasts.
