People Moves 8/31: A Rushed Departure From KQBT

Rudy Rush has departed afternoons at iHeartMedia Urban “93.7 The Beat” KQBT Houston to focus on his comedy career for now. Rush previously hosted the syndicated “Afternoon Rush” that took the place of the Doug Banks Show following Banks’ passing in 2016. With his exit, midday host Carmen Contreras has moved to afternoons with Ashlee Young currently listed in the 9am-2pm slot. After 29 years with CHR “Z102.9” KZIA Cedar Rapids, Scott Schulte is exiting as morning host on September 7 to relocate to Connecticut to be with his fiancee. Michael Saunders Named KQBT Program Director

A day after Dawn Campbell was named as his replacement at Cox Urban AC “Star 94.5” WCFB Orlando, Michael Saunders has been appointed Program Director of iHeartMedia Urban “93.7 The Beat” KQBT Houston. Saunders will also serve as Urban Brand Coordinator for iHeartMedia’s National Programming Group. This marks a return to the company for Saunders where he previously served as VP/Programming for the company’s Detroit cluster and PD of “Power 105.1” WWPR New York. He’s also programmed WPGC Washington DC, WJHM Orlando, and WBAV/WPEG Charlotte during his career. Following Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” the station kicked off the new format with Beyonce & Jay-Z’s “Drunk In Love”, Destiny’s Child “Soldier”, and French Montana “Ain’t Worried About Nothin'”.
