People Moves 1/22: WTVN Afternoon Host John Corby Dies

John Corby, afternoon host at iHeartMedia News/Talk 610 WTVN Columbus OH died over the weekend at the age of 61. Corby spent two stints at WTVN, first from 1984-1997 and then returning as afternoon host in 1997 until now. In between he spent three years at 1020 KDKA Pittsburgh hosting an evening Sports show. Corby was off the air last week with an undisclosed illness and his cause of death has not been revealed. WTVN has compiled some of Corby’s best bits on its website. Charese Fruge Promoted To VP/Programming CBS Radio Houston; Cat Thomas Takes Over Las Vegas

CBS Radio is transferring its Las Vegas VP/Programming Charese Fruge to Houston where she will serve as Vice President of Programming and Operations Manager for the company’s six stations in the markets as well as Program Director of CHR “Hot 95.7” KKHH and Hot AC “Mix 96.5” KHMX effective Monday, May 4. Fruge joined CBS Radio in 2009 as PD of Hot AC “Mix 94.1” KMXB Las Vegas and has since taken on oversight of Alternative “X107.5” KXTE as well. At various times she also oversaw CBS stations in Sacramento and San Diego. Replacing Fruge as VP/Progamming of CBS Radio Las Vegas will be Cat Thomas.
