Carol Vonn Moves To Middays At WKTI Milwaukee As Jillene Leaves For Madison

Just a couple weeks after joining Scripps Country “94.5 KTI Country” WKTI Milwaukee as interim morning host, Carol ‘CV’ Vonn will become the station’s midday host. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports Vonn will move to middays once the station fills its morning vacancy. In that daypart she will replace Jillene Khan, who is exiting to join Midwest Family Broadcasting AC “Magic 98” 98.1 WMGN Madison in an undisclosed role. Khan was the last remaining of the original staffers hired by WKTI following its flip to Country in May 2015 starting in nights and later moving to middays.

WKTI Makes Morning Change

Scripps Media Country “94.5 KTI Country” WKTI Milwaukee has parted ways with morning host Jake Kelly. Kelly’s departure comes on the heels of his partner Tanner Jay’s exit last July. The duo joined WKTI from Midwest Communications CHR 101.1 WIXX Green Bay in November 2015. Their departure continues a reshuffling of the talent at the station that started with the arrival of former 106.1 WMIL morning co-host Karen Dallesandro for afternoons last month. Carol ‘CV’ Vonn, most recently morning co-host at Milwaukee Radio Alliance AC “B93.3” WLDB until her own exit last April, is joining WKTI as interim morning host.

After “retiring” from iHeartMedia Country “FM 106.1” WMIL Waukesha/Milwaukee in March, Karen Dalessandro is returning to the market at Scripps’ “94.5 KTI Country” WKTI as afternoon host and Music Director starting Wednesday, September 27. A Shore Change For 92.1 The Lake

As expected Magnum Media rebranded 92.1 WVTY Racine from “The Lake” to “The Shore” this morning. The Variety Hits format that launched last month stays in place with the name change. As reported since the format change last month, the “Lake” name was still being kept active by previous user Scripps and this ends the dispute between the two companies over the use of the intellectual property. No word if there was any financial settlement over the use. The following memo was sent out by owner Dave Magnum to staffers regarding the name change: I’m pleased to report that we have completed the necessary steps and our nickname will change at midnight to “92.1 THE SHORE.” Our new website address will be 921theshore.com. We’ve been weaving in “shore” references ...[Read More]

Scripps Launches KTI Country Milwaukee

Scripps has flipped Variety Hits “94.5 The Lake” WLWK-FM Milwaukee to Country “KTI Country“. Resurrecting the frequency’s heritage WKTI call letters, the new station gives a direct competitor to iHeartMedia’s market leading “FM 106.1” WMIL. The station utilized the WKTI call letters from the early 1970’s until its flip to Variety Hits in November 2008. The format change occurred after a brief stunt playing The Beatle’s Abbey Road in its entirety in tribute to the album’s “Hello, Goodbye” being the first song played as part of “The Lake’s” format. WMIL currently leads the Milwaukee market with a 10.5 share in the April 2015 Nielsen Audio ratings. With Scripps News/Talk 620 WTMJ second at a 10.1, ...[Read More]
