After shutting down Badlands Pawn Shop and its associated tourist attractions in September including Rock 94.5 KBAD-FM Sioux Falls SD, Chuck Brennan has sold the station for his $945,000 asking price. Regional Catholic operator Real Presence Radio will acquire KBAD-FM from Brennan’s Badlands Airtime and convert the station to non-commercial status. The group currently owns ten stations and has pending applications to purchase two more across the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. 1340 Productions sells CHR “95.9 The Buzz” KTRI-FM Mansfield MO to Lake Area Educational Broadcasting Foundation for $80,000. 94.5 KBAD Sioux Falls Goes Dark As Owner’s Dollar Loan Business Becomes Illegal

After launching Classic Rock 94.5 KBAD-FM Sioux Falls SD in November 2015 as part of tourist attraction Badlands Pawn Shop, Chuck Brennan has pulled the plug on the station and the remaining parts of his businesses. KBAD-FM went dark on Saturday as Brennan shuttered his all of his businesses following the South Dakota Division of Banking revoking the business licenses of his Dollar Loan Center in the state earlier this month. Brennan shut down the Badlands Pawn Shop and that included “a foundry, tattoo parlor, deli, gun range, gun store, concert venue, music department, casino, house band, entertainment group, radio station and retail store” at the end of 2016 after South Dakota voters approved a measure capping high interest short-term loans at 36% interest. Badlands Pawn Sets KBAD Sioux Falls Launch Details

Badlands Pawn will debut the “Gold, Guns And Rock & Roll Network” on 94.5 KBAD-FM Sioux Falls, SD on Thursday, November 26 at 9:00am. The station will be located inside the Badlands Pawn Shop that will also open that day as a tourist attraction near the intersections of Interstates 29 and 90 in Sioux Falls. The complex will include the pawn shop, indoor shooting range, concert space, ticket broker, foundry, tattoo shop and KBAD-FM. Crash, formerly of Townsquare Media’s “B102.7” KYBB Sioux Falls will serve as PD/Morning co-host with Taylor. Horizon Broadcasting Group is transferring impending Portland move-in 96.3 KWLZ-FM West Linn, OR to 3 Horizons LLC, a partnership between Horizon and 3 Cities Broadcasting. 3 Cities owns AC “Mixx 96.1” KXXO Olympia/Tacoma, WA, which is required to build a new facility before KWLZ-FM moves into the Portland market.
