Former “106.5 The End” WEND Salisbury/Charlotte NC PD/Afternoon Host Jack Daniel is joining Beasley Media AC “K104.7” WKQC and Southern Rock “94.7 Smoke” 1660 WBCN/W234BY Charlotte NC for afternoons starting Monday, April 2. Daniel has been a stalwart in the Charlotte market since 1975. He exited WEND in August 2017 after serving as its Program Director since its launch in 1995. Beasley Media has flipped Conservative Talk “America’s Pulse 1660” WBCN Charlotte to Southern Rock “94.7 Smoke” with the addition of W234BY Charlotte. Overseen by 103.7 WSOC Program Director DJ Stout, the new station is built around all-things Southern. The station lists hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, pick-up trucks, cold beer, horseshoes, great BBQ, Myrtle Beach, The Smokies, and NASCAR as among the topics the station will highlight. Station Moves 1TV.com’s “Oldies 97.3 KIKO-FM Claypool/Globe, AZ is attempting to make a move to better reach the east side of the Phoenix market. KIKO-FM seeks to shift to 96.5 and upgrade from a Class C3 to a Class C with 32kW at 981 meters (Coverage Map). To make the move happen, Petracom Hot AC “96.5 The Storm” KRFM Show Low would have to relocate to 98.5 with a downgrade from a Class C to a Class C0 with no changes to its 100kW at 303 meters facilities via a Show Cause Order. Just south of Phoenix, East Valley Institute of Technology applies to downgrade its CP for 88.7 KPNG Chandler from a Class C1 to C3 with 15kW at 113 meters (Coverage Map). As the FCC gets back to normal operations following the shutdown, the agency is working quickly to get through the remaining 2003 translator applications. A number of translators have been granted over the past week. Among the new translator CP granted are: Hope Christian Church of Marlton, NJ was granted 92.9 W225BT Glen Burnie, MD with 19 watts rebroadcasting Clear Channel’s 93.1 WPOC. Due to the closeness of the translator to WPOC, we would expect a further application for the translator. Hope also was granted 95.1 W235CE Gettysburg, PA with 7 watts rebroadcasting Clear Channel’s 94.9 WRBT Harrisburg.
