94.7 Fresh FM Washington, D.C. Debuts

As announced last Monday, CBS Radio has flipped Classic Rock 94.7 WTGB Washington, D.C. to AC as “94.7 Fresh-FM” at midnight. Greg Dunkin, who developed the Fresh format as a consultant, will program the station. The first three songs played were Pink “Get The Party Started”, Corrine Bailey Rae “Put Your Records On”, and Jason Mraz “I’m Yours”. Original Post 3/30: “Classic Rock 94.7” WTGB Washington, DC is promoting the debut of AC “94.7 Fresh FM” at Noon on Monday, April 6.

Getting Fresh in Washington?

On Wednesday we reported that CBS had registered 947NowFM.com, AmpRadio947.com, and Fresh947.com on March 6. Today DCRTV.com reported “rumblings that CBS Radio will flip 94.7, WTGB, from classic rock to adult contemporary – to battle Clear Channel’s WASH, 97.1, which soared to 2nd place in the latest Portable People Meter radio ratings. Possibly by next week.” We’ve found a few more domains that may lead to a Fresher outlook at WTGB. 947freshfm.com and freshfm947.com were registered by Intertech Media on March 17. Additionally, CBS registered 947fresh.com back in 2007 as a decoy prior to the launch of AAA “94.7 The Globe”.

More Fun With CBS Domains

Over the past few weeks a bunch of more domains, some even registered directly by CBS Radio and its web design partner Intertech Media, have appeared. These domains give a glimpse into where the next round of flips may be happening. First there’s this batch of 98.7’s which were registered by Intertech Media on March 11. 987AmpRadio.com, 987FreshFM.com, 987TheParty.com, Energy987.com, Fresh987.com, Now987.com, Now987FM.com, Play987.com, and 987NowFM.com. CBS owns four stations on 98.7. Three of them are fairly successful: KLUV Dallas, KUPL Portland, and WLLD Tampa. The fourth, WVMV Detroit, not so much. With Dom Theodore based in Detroit and his former station WKQI meeting the criteria of a CHR without any direct competition, Detroit seems like an easy choice for a potential fli...[Read More]
