The new non-commercial station is emphasizing its app over its 250w/157m translator signal to better reach its core college aged audience. “ESPN 850” WRUF will launch its FM signal 95.3 W237EJ Gainesville on Wednesday, August 19. Rebranding as “ESPN 95.3 Gainesville“, WRUF will continue as the flagship of the University of Florida sports and also carries Jacksonville Jaguars football and Tampa Bay Rays baseball. Station Moves 1TV.com’s “Oldies 97.3 KIKO-FM Claypool/Globe, AZ is attempting to make a move to better reach the east side of the Phoenix market. KIKO-FM seeks to shift to 96.5 and upgrade from a Class C3 to a Class C with 32kW at 981 meters (Coverage Map). To make the move happen, Petracom Hot AC “96.5 The Storm” KRFM Show Low would have to relocate to 98.5 with a downgrade from a Class C to a Class C0 with no changes to its 100kW at 303 meters facilities via a Show Cause Order. Just south of Phoenix, East Valley Institute of Technology applies to downgrade its CP for 88.7 KPNG Chandler from a Class C1 to C3 with 15kW at 113 meters (Coverage Map). Apex Broadcasting is seeking an upgrade of Variety Hits “SC 103.1” WVSC Parris Island, SC from a Class C3 with 11kW at 114.9 meters to a C2 with 50kW at 150 meters. The application also requests the city of license change to Port Royal as Parris Island was absorbed into Port Royal in 2002. After completing its move from 106.5 in Clinton, MO to 106.9 Harrisonville, MO, K295CH seeks to move again to Kansas City where it will operate with 250 watts at 281 meters. The translator would rebroadcast Union Broadcasting’s Sports/Talk “ESPN 1510” KCTE Independence.
