1400 WHGB/95.3 W237DE Harrisburg, PA have dropped their simulcast of sister “Sports Radio 96.5” W243BR/WWKL-HD2 after a two month transition period moving the Sports format to the new signal to bring the Nash Icon brand to the market. “95.3 Nash Icon” becomes a flanker to sister “106.7 Nash-FM” WZCY Hershey. It joins a competitive Country market including iHeartMedia’s “Bob 94.9” WRBT and Radio Carlisle’s “Red 102.3” WCAT-FM.
Cumulus Sports “SportsRadio 1400/95.3” WHBG/W237DE Harrisburg is on the move to a stronger FM signal. The format has moved to Hope Christian Church’s 96.5 W243BR Harrisburg as “SportsRadio 96.5” via 104.1 WNNK-HD2. W243BR operates with 200 watts at 222 meters from south of Harrisburg covering much more of the market than the 60 watt at 193 meter from northwest of town that 95.3 operates with. The move comes with news that the station and sister 1440 WGLD York will drop play-by-play coverage of the Philadelphia Phillies in favor of the Washington Nationals. The Nationals (and predecessor Montreal Expos) have had their AA affiliate in Harrisburg since 1991. The Phillies in turn will affiliate with Hall’s “ESPN Radio 92.7” WLPA-FM Starview.
As CBS Sports Radio prepares to debut on January 2, Cumulus has begun the process of rebranding some of their stations away from the ESPN or Fox Sports monikers the stations had been using. Among the stations rebranding so-far: “ESPN 970” KESP Modesto, CA to “Sportsradio 970” “940 ESPN Radio” WINE Brookfield, CT/WPUT Brewster, NY to “Sportsradio 940/1510” “ESPN 95.9” WSJZ Sebastian/Melbourne, FL to “Sportsradio 95.9” “ESPN 102.1” WZAT Savannah, GA to “Sportsradio 102.1” “ESPN Radio 1490” KTOP Topeka, KS to “Sportsradio 1490” “Supertalk 1340” KRMD Shreveport/100.7 K264AS Mooringsport, LA to “Sportstalk 100.7” “ESPN 96.7” WLLF Mercer, PA/...[Read More]

The translator will continue to be fed by 104.1 WNNK-HD2. Out with the shift will be the syndicated Tom Joyner morning show and Doug Banks afternoon show.
