Beasley Media has brought Classic Hip-Hop to Augusta, GA. “Hot 95.5/93.1” replaced Active Rock “95 Rock” 1480 WCHZ/95.5 W238AU Augusta and the simulcast of Southern Gospel WGUS-FM on 93.1 WCHZ-FM Warrenton at 10:00am today. Translator Report 12/13

One of the markets that has yet to see translator action this year has been Chicago. Calvary Radio Network is looking to change that. 100.7 W264BF Englewood, IL currently operates with 2 watts from the top of the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower. It has been granted a CP to upgrade to 10 watts which will give it coverage of much of the city of Chicago. The translator is currently licensed to simulcast Calvary’s 89.9 WHLP Valparaiso, IN. The maneuverings of Radio Power, Inc with its translators in Detroit will end up as one of the top stories of the year. Translator Report 10/14

Apple Community Broadcasting is attempting to bring another translator closer to New York City. While its 106.3 W293BU remains in limbo, its 101.5 W268AN Plainview, NY has applied to move its tower about 12 miles west on the Long Island Expressway. From its new tower, just over the border separating Queens from Nassau County, the translator will operate with 10 watts. Another translator will attempt to move to Austin, TX. Big Bend Broadcasting has applied to move 105.5 K288FJ from Bastrop, TX to Austin where it will rebroadcast an HD subchannel of Border Media’s 92.5 KXXS with 99 watts. Big Bend Broadcasting acquired 105.5 last year in a swap with Emmis for 102.7 K274AX after Emmis was unable to move 105.5 into Austin.
