Former AAA “103.7 The Mountain” KMTT Seattle (now “Hot 103.7” KHTP) morning host Marty Riemer is joining iHeartMedia Classic Hits “95.7 The Jet” KJR-FM beginning Monday, January 5. Riemer, a veteran of multiple Seattle stations, is best known for his long run at KMTT in mornings from 1997 until 2009 before returning in afternoons from 2010 to 2012. He will join his former co-host Jodi Brothers at The Jet. Brothers was the only holdover after Bob Rivers retired and the station relaunched in August. Brothers re-debuted today and will host by herself with Riemer making sporadic appearances until he rejoins her daily in January.
Update 8/8: At 10:08am following the conclusion of Bob Rivers’ final show, KJR-FM Seattle relaunched its CLassic Hits format as “95.7 The Jet“. Positioned as “Seattle’s Variety From The 70s, 80s and More”, the move shifts the station back to a broader music mix positioned between First Broadcasting Classic Hits 104.5 KMCQ and CBS Variety Hits “96.5 Jack-FM” KJAQ. Bob Rivers has announced he will retire from the morning show at Clear Channel Classic Hits 95.7 KJR-FM Seattle on Friday, August 8. The date will coincide with the 25th anniversary of Rivers debuting in Seattle on 99.9 KISW after a previous run in mornings at “98 Rock” WIYY Baltimore. Rivers remained at KISW until 2001 when it moved to CBS Classic Rock 102.5 KZOK before moving to KJR-FM in April 2011. Rivers states he continue to produce his “Twisted Tunes” parody songs and potentially launch a podcast. Clear Channel has registered a number of domains hinting at a format change at KJR-FM following Rivers’ retirement.
Maynard, Program Director of Hubbard CHR “Movin 92.5” KQMV and Modern AC “Click 98.9” KLCK Seattle is exiting to join Clear Channel as a Vice President of Programming. Maynard also hosted middays at KQMV. While Maynard’s exact duties have not been announced, could the timing have anything to do with Clear Channel’s expected revamping of Classic Hits 95.7 KJR-FM?
