West Virginia Radio Corporation is purchasing Prettyman Broadcasting’s three stations in the Hagerstown, MD/Martinsburg, WV market. The stations involved are Classic Country “95.9 The Big Dawg” WICL Williamsport MD, AC 97.5 WLTF Martinsburg, and Sports “ESPN 1340” WEPM Martinsburg. No purchase price has been announced but WVRC will assume control of the stations via LMA on November 1. The Morgantown based West Virginia Radio Corporation is owned by Greer Industries and owns clusters in Beckley, Charleston, Elkins, Morgantown, WV and Cumberland, MD. Andrew Powaski, Market Manager for the company’s Morgantown and Cumberland stations, will add the new acquisitions to his duties.
Back in July, Prettyman Broadcasting’s Classic Hits “Oldies 95.9” WICL Williamsport/Hagerstown MD relaunched as “95.9 The Greatest Hits“. That revamp was short-lived as the station flipped to Classic Country on September 25 as “95.9 The Big Dawg“. The flip brought Classic Country back to FM in the market following Verstandig’s flip of “Country Legends 92.1” WPPT to CHR “Now 92.1” WNUZ-FM in May.
