Sunrise Broadcasting has debuted Soft Oldies “95.9 The Breeze” W240AS Wilmington NC/WKXB-HD2. The new format creates a flanker between Sunrise AC “Sunny 103.7” WILT and Rhythmic Oldies “Jammin 99.9” WKXB against Cumulus Media AC 102.7 WGNI. Core artists on the station include Chicago, Elton John, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Phil Collins, Hall & Oates, the Eagles, and Lionel Richie. W240AS had been rebroadcasting Sports “ESPN 630” WMFD, which recently launched a new translator: 101.7 W269DF Wilmington.

ESPN Comes To FM In Wilmington

Sunrise Broadcasting has assumed operations of 95.9 W240AS Wilmington, NC. Upon replacing Hometown Wilmington Media has the lessee of the translator, Sunrise has flipped it to Sports simulcasting “ESPN 630” WMFD. The 250 watt translator is owned by Sea-Comm Media. The move explains why Hometown Wilmington flipped 103.7 WBNE from Classic Rock to being the FM side of the News “Port City Radio” simulcast with 1180 WLTT last month. W240AS had served that purpose previously.

Classical Comes To Des Moines and Wilmington, NC

A pair of format changes have brought Classical music to FM on a 24/7 basis in Des Moines and Wilmington, NC. Davis Media, which announced the acquisition of Sea-Comm Media’s cluster in Wilmington, NC last week wastes no time making its first move as it flips 1180 WSFM and its translator at 95.9 W240AS from Regional Mexican to Classical as “Bach FM“. Davis operates a second “Bach FM” in Williamsburg, VA on 107.9 WBQK. In Des Moines, Iowa Public Radio has returned the former 105.9 KZHC and 96.3 KZHC to the air.
