Cox Media Group has appointed Tina Commodore as Integrated News Driector for News/Talk 740 KRMG Tulsa/102.3 KRMG-FM Sand Springs OK and “Fox 23” KOKI-TV Tulsa. Commodore has served as News Director of KOKI-TV since November 2016 as the move continues the integration between Cox Media Group’s radio and television properties. Just eight months after both returning to Entercom Rhythmic CHR “KS 107.5” KQKS Lakewood/Denver CO as part of the station’s revamped morning show, Mario ‘DJ Chonz’ Rodriguez and Mercedes ‘Ya Girl Cedes’ Howard have exited the station. DJ Chonz worked at KQKS from 2001 through 2016 and Cedes from 2011-2016 before rejoining to team with Tony V in mornings. Tony V remains in place. Radio One Acquires Red Zebra Pair In DC & Richmond; WMMJ To Add Simulcast

Red Zebra Broadcasting is selling Sports 92.7 WWXT Prince Frederick MD and 950 WXGI Richmond VA to Radio One for an undisclosed amount. With the deal, Radio One will begin operating both stations via LMA on Monday, May 1. WWXT will drop from the “ESPN 980” simulcast it has with 980 WTEM Washington DC and 94.3 WWXX Buckland VA and begin simulcasting Radio One Urban AC “Majic 102.3” WMMJ Bethesda MD. The addition of 92.7 to WMMJ will expand the station’s coverage on the southern and eastern side of the Washington market. In Palm Springs, EMF acquires Classic Hits “Valley 105.1” KVGH-FM Bermuda Dunes from S&H Broadcasting for $1.125 million. EMF intends to flip the station to its Christian AC “K-Love” network as a satellite of 91.9 KLVR Middletown CA. The debate over whether the Washington Redskins NFL franchise should change its name is spreading to the radio holdings of Red Zebra Broadcasting. While stating that any use of the name by a broadcaster should be considered indecent, former FCC Chairman Reed Hundt told Indian Country Today Media Network that the commission should should reevaluate whether or not Daniel Snyder is fit to hold station licenses. Red Zebra Sports “950 ESPN” WXGI Richmond, VA will add an FM simulcast via 100.5 WZEZ Goochland, VA. The FM, currently owned by Delmarva Educational Association and programming a Soft AC format as “EZ 100.5“, will flip to a simulcast of WXGI branded as “Sports FM 100.5” on Saturday, February 1 via an LMA. ESPN 950 (WXGI) announced expansion of its broadcast signal, adding 100.5 FM (WZEZ) starting February 1st, 2014.
