US101 Chattanooga Adds A Legend

The gold-based Country marketplace is getting a tad bit crowded in Chattanooga. A couple weeks after Cumulus flipped Classic Hits 107.9 WOGT to their Nash Icon brand, iHeartMedia has dropped Urban “96.1 The Beat” W241AF Rossville, GA/100.7 WUSY-HD2 and replaced it with a 90s centric Classic Country format “US101 The Legend 96.1“. The move expands the dominant in the market “US101” 100.7 WUSY brand to a second frequency and gives the Chattanooga market its third gold-based Country signal along with WOGT and Bahakel Communications’ “Q97.3/99.3” WUUQ South Pittsburg/99.3 W257AZ Lookout Mountain. iHeartMedia states that the new Legend will focus on “80s, ’90s, and early 2000’s country that has gotten lost and forgotten by countr...[Read More]

Beat Headed For Chattanooga

Update 4/2: The Beat debuted this morning as a Mainstream Urban positioned between Brewer Media’s “Power 94” WJTT and “Groove 93” WMPZ. The station becomes the Chattanooga affiliate for the Steve Harvey Morning Show and Keith Sweat Hotel in evenings. Update 4/1: 96.1 is now stunting with a loop of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It”. Original Report 3/4: Clear Channel will soon bring a second Urban into the Chattanooga market. The company registered TheBeatChattanooga.com in late February. The site currently features the company’s blank site template. We expect the new station will make use of Immanuel Broadcasting’s 96.1 W241AF Rossville, GA. That translator has a CP to increase from 10 to 250 watts and will rebroadcast Clear ChannelR...[Read More]
