Ownership Change Leads To Country Split On California Coast

With El Dorado Broadcasters selling half of their “Sunny Country” simulcast in San Luis Obispo/Santa Maria CA, the market finds itself with two competing stations. American General Media has closed on its purchase of 102.5 KSNI-FM and News/Talk 1240 KSMX Santa Maria from El Dorado. KSNI-FM retains the “Sunny Country” branding but the airstaff exits. Jay Turner, who served as PD/Morning Host at KSNI from 1999 through 2012 returns to the station as APD/Morning Host. El Dorado Broadcasters has merged the programming at a pair of its Country stations on the Central California Coast. “Cat Country 96.1” KSLY San Luis Obispo is now simulcasting “Sunny Country 102.5” KSNI Santa Maria as “Sunny Country 102.5 & 96.1“. KSNI morning Jay & Nicki remain in place on the combined station. KSLY morning host Mark Mitchell takes middays, while KSNI’s Jennifer Grant remains in afternoons followed by the syndicated Big Time With Whitney Allen. KSLY morning co-host Becky Kingman will move to the same position at sister Hot AC “Coast 101.3” KSTT.
