Jason Cage Joins Mix 96.5 Houston For Afternoons

After exiting CBS Radio at the end of 2016 when CHR “96.5 Amp Radio” WZMP Philadelphia flipped to AC “Today’s 96.5“, Jason Cage is rejoining the company to host afternoons at Adult CHR “Mix 96.5” KHMX Houston. Cage fills the afternoon opening created when Lauren Kelly moved to mornings in April. It also completes an airstaff revamp that features the new “Morning Mix” Sarah Pepper, Geoff Sheen and Lauren Kelly from 530-10am and Program Director Chase Murphy in middays from 10am-3pm. KHMX Launches The Morning Mix

CBS Hot AC “Mix 96.5” KHMX Houston has announced the launch of “The Morning Mix” with Sarah Pepper, Geoff Sheen and Lauren Kelly starting Monday, April 10. Pepper most recently co-hosted mornings at defunct sister CHR “Hot 95.7” KKHH until its flip to Adult Hits “95.7 The Spot” at the end of 2016. Sheen most recently hosted afternoons at iHeartMedia Sports “Ticket 760” KTKR San Antonio until May 2016. Kelly moves from afternoons at KHMX. Chase Murphy Named KHMX Program Director

CBS Radio Hot AC “Mix 96.5” KHMX Houston has named Chase Murphy as its new Program Director. Murphy fills the spot previously held by Charese Fruge until her exit as VP/Programming last fall. He most recently served as OM/Regional Program Director for iHeartMedia Central Texas where he directly programmed CHR “Mix 96.1” KXXM and AC “Q101.9” KQXT San Antonio. Dave & Mahoney Return To X107.5 Las Vegas

After leaving CBS Hot AC “Mix 96.5” KHMX Houston, Dave Farra and Jason Mahoney are returning to sister Alternative “X107.5” KXTE Pahrump/Las Vegas. Farra, Mahoney, and Daena “DK” Kramer left KXTE for KHMX in September 2015 after six years at the station. Kramer will not remain with the show when it returns to Las Vegas on February 6. Farra and Mahoney will supplant Marc ‘Marco’ Orem in mornings at KXTE. Orem joined KXTE in February 2016 along with Joe ‘Jeetz’ Reeder. CBS Hot AC “Mix 96.5” KHMX Houston has announced its new on-air lineup. Chris Jackson is joining KHMX as APD/MD/Midday host from sister Alternative “X107.5” KXTE Las Vegas where he held identical duties. Jackson continues the shift of talent from KXTE to KHMX under Program Director Charese Fruge, who previously oversaw the Las Vegas station before moving to KHMX in April 2015. Mix morning hosts Dave, Mahoney & DK made the move from KXTE to KHMX last August as well. Dave, Mahoney & DK Shift From X107.5 Las Vegas To Mix 96.5 Houston

CBS Radio is moving the Dave, Mahoney and DK morning show from Alternative “X107.5” KXTE Pahrump/Las Vegas to Hot AC “Mix 96.5” KHMX Houston. The trio will make their Houston debut on Monday, September 14 as part of the station’s 25th anniversary celebration. They replace Atom Smasher and Shawnda McNeal who were let go at the end of June. Dave, Mahoney and DK spent the last six years at KXTE where they worked under Charese Fruge. Fruge transferred from VP/Programming of CBS Las Vegas to similar duties at Houston earlier this year. Houston’s Mix Smashes Morning Show

Atom Smasher’s second tour in Houston lasted much shorter than his first. Smasher spent eight years at CHR 104.1 KRBE from 1998 to 2006 rising from evenings to afternoons and finally mornings in 2005. After time in Dallas and Evansville he returned to Houston in January 2014 with his then WSTO Evansville co-host Shawnda McNeal to take mornings at CBS Hot AC “Mix 96.5” KHMX. After just 18 months both Smasher and McNeal are out following last Friday’s show. MikeMcGuff.com reports that Smasher is seeking to stay in Texas this time.

Charese Fruge Promoted To VP/Programming CBS Radio Houston; Cat Thomas Takes Over Las Vegas

CBS Radio is transferring its Las Vegas VP/Programming Charese Fruge to Houston where she will serve as Vice President of Programming and Operations Manager for the company’s six stations in the markets as well as Program Director of CHR “Hot 95.7” KKHH and Hot AC “Mix 96.5” KHMX effective Monday, May 4. Fruge joined CBS Radio in 2009 as PD of Hot AC “Mix 94.1” KMXB Las Vegas and has since taken on oversight of Alternative “X107.5” KXTE as well. At various times she also oversaw CBS stations in Sacramento and San Diego. Replacing Fruge as VP/Progamming of CBS Radio Las Vegas will be Cat Thomas. DOJ Requires More Clear Channel Spinoffs

Update 2/14/08: Some reports on which stations must be spun-off. The Houston Chronicle states that 101.1 KLOL and either 94.5 KTBZ or 96.5 KHMX will be sold. John Kiesewetter of the the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the pair of 700 WLW and 107.1 WKFS or the pair of 92.5 WOFX and 94.1 WNNF will be sold in Cincinnati. We’ve also heard that 101.9 KWID will be the Las Vegas station, but nothing out of San Francisco that seems conclusive.
