iHeartMedia has named Blaine Jackson as Program Director of Country “105.7 The Bull” WLUB and Classic Country “106.3 The Bull Icons” W292EE/WLUB-HD2 Augusta GA. Jackson joins WLUB/W292EE from sister “96.5 The Bull” WIHB-FM Gray/Macon where she served as PD/Midday host. iHeart Launches Bull & Bull Icons In Macon

iHeartMedia is doubling down on Country in Macon, GA. First, Country “New Country 96.5” WPCH-FM Gray rebranded as “96.5 The Bull“. The station previously utilized that branding for a few months in 2008. New WIHB-FM call letters are incoming. The Bull branding will also be utilized on what was previously Spanish Adult Hits “La Preciosa 1280” WIBB Macon and newly launched 97.3 W247BW Macon as the pair flips to Classic Country “97.3 The Bull Icons” with WIBB becoming WIHB. iHeart launched a similarly branded brand extension last year in Lexington, KY. The Bull duo will compete against Cumulus’s market leading Country 99.1 WDEN Macon and Dowdy Broadcasting’s Classic Country “104.9 Pure Country” WMCG Milan.

Macon’s Peach Returns To Country

Clear Channel AC “Peach 96.5” WPCH Gray/Macon, GA has shifted to Country as “New Country 96.5” at midnight Saturday. The station had previously been Country for part of 2008 as “The Bull“. More recently Clear Channel operated a similarly branded “New Country 102.5” in Macon on WZCH Warner-Robbins before that station was spun-off to EMF Broadcasting in September 2011.

Update 3/22: 102.5 WZCH has dropped its simulcast of 96.5 WPCH and is currently stunting with a wheel of formats until Friday, March 25 at 4:00pm when it will debut its new format. While NewCountry1025.com is currently not active, we can confirm that will be the new format and name for the station as their new site is active at the this address. Original Report 2/16: Clear Channel is planning on reentering the Country music market in Macon and Warner-Robbins, GA. Update 3/21/08: It took a little longer than we thought, but the Macon flip occurred earlier this week. “The Peach” AC format is now on the to be spun-off 102.5 frequency, while Country “The Bull” has relocated to 96.5. Original Post 2/6/08: As we noted last week in our report about a pending frequency swap in Bakersfield, if Clear Channel is going to go through with its privatization plan there are going to be frequency swaps in order to keep the formats it wants in the markets it must spin-off some stations. Next up seems to be Macon, GA where Clear Channel looks to be swapping Country WEBL “102.5 The Bull” to 96.5 and Classic Hits “Peach 96.5” WPCH to the 102.5 frequency it will be disposing of.
