The FCC has approved 1TV.com's application to upgrade "Oldies 96.5" KIKO-FM Claypool AZ from a C2 to C and dismissed Kona Coast Radio's competing application to add a new 96.3 in Star Valley AZ.

Blue Sky Broadcasting AAA 95.3 KPND Deer Park/Spokane WA seeks to move to the tower of sister Country 102.3 KICR Coeur D'alene ID with 100kW/572m. Following its pending move from 97.3 to 96.5, 1TV.com applies to increase KIKO-FM Claypool AZ from a Class C2 to Class C with 34kW/966m. The move will extend the 60dBu contour of the station into the eastern suburbs of Phoenix. Alpha Media Urban AC "Magic 101.3" WMJM Jeffersontown/Louisville KY seeks to increase from 2kW/59m to 6kW/59m.

Station Sales Educational Media Foundation and multiple affiliates of Vic Michael are exchanging eight properties. EMF will acquire Kona Coast Radio’s Hawaiian 95.9 KKHI Kaunakakai HI, Future Modulation Broadcasting’s Hot AC “My 100.7” Kihei HI, and Mountain Community Translators’ 94.5 K233DC Kailua HI, 96.5 K243AM Colorado Springs CO, and 101.7 K269EQ Loveland CO in exchange for 102.9 KMKV Paia HI, 96.5 K243BN Laveen/Phoenix AZ, and 96.5 K243BP Casa Grande AZ. New South Radio adds a sixth station in Jackson MS with the purchase of Christian AC “Star 93.5” WHJT Kearney Park from Mississippi Broadcasters for $600,000. Translator Moves Educational Media Foundation’s 96.5 K243BN Laveen, AZ applies to open up its directional pattern to increase coverage to the east and west while remaining at its current 250 watts at 278.6 meters antenna on Phoenix’s North Mountain. K243BN will likely be heading towards a signal conflict with 1TV.com’s 97.3 KIKO-FM Claypool, which applied last month to upgrade to a Class C on 96.5. K243BN will change its originating station to an HD subchannel of iHeartMedia’s 99.9 KESZ Phoenix (Coverage Map).

FCC Applications 6/7: Pair Of Stations Sliding Closer To Phoenix

Station Moves 1TV.com’s “Oldies 97.3 KIKO-FM Claypool/Globe, AZ is attempting to make a move to better reach the east side of the Phoenix market. KIKO-FM seeks to shift to 96.5 and upgrade from a Class C3 to a Class C with 32kW at 981 meters (Coverage Map). To make the move happen, Petracom Hot AC “96.5 The Storm” KRFM Show Low would have to relocate to 98.5 with a downgrade from a Class C to a Class C0 with no changes to its 100kW at 303 meters facilities via a Show Cause Order. Just south of Phoenix, East Valley Institute of Technology applies to downgrade its CP for 88.7 KPNG Chandler from a Class C1 to C3 with 15kW at 113 meters (Coverage Map). A pair of translators are seeking to enhance their signal around Los Angeles. After having their move to near Pasadena rejected by the FCC, EMF Broadcasting has amended their application for 100.7 K264AF Guasti. The current app seeks to operate with 250 watts from a tower near West Covina, CA. Life On The Way Communications’ 91.1 K216FM has completed its move to Valley Village with 10 watts but now has applied to move south to the tower of 93.5 KDAY near Culver City where it would operate with 5 watts. The station would change its originating station from 90.3 KMRO Camarillo, CA to 88.9 WGEN-FM Monee, IL. Both stations simulcast the programming of the Christian “Worship On The Way” Network. EMF Broadcasting is applying to bring another translator into Chicago proper. 101.5 W268AY Seward Township, IL has applied to relocate to the top of the Trump International Hotel where it would operate with 250 watts and rebroadcast Clear Channel’s 95.5 WNUA-HD3. In nearby Joliet, 94.3 W232BL looks to double from 5 to 10 watts with a shift to 99.1 due to interference from co-owned “K-Love” WJKL Glendale Heights. Over in Phoenix, EMF is seeking to relocate and upgrade its 96.5 K243BN Laveen from the South Mountain tower farm to the north side of the city. It will upgrade from 11 to 51 watts. After applying in October to 104.7, the translator has amended its application to stay on 106.3 albeit from a new location in Long Island City, Queens with lower power. If accepted it will operate with 40 watts with city grade coverage over the bulk of Manhattan. Instead of rebroadcasting Clear Channel’s 106.7 WLTW-HD2, the application changes the originating station to 93.5 WVOX New Rochelle, NY. EMF Broadcasting has applied to move 91.9 W220DM Parma, OH to 92.7 due to displacement from WKJA Brunswick, OH.
