FCC Report 12/11: MX Settlement Reached In St. Louis

Covenant Network and Salem Media have come to a settlement over their competing AM Revitalization applications for 96.7 in St. Louis. Salem applied for and has been granted a CP to move 95.1 W249CQ Colfax IN to 95.1 instead with 85w/157m rebroadcasting Conservative Talk "1260 The Answer" WSDZ Belleville IL. That will enable Covenant Network's 97.5 W248CH Belleville to make its move to 96.7 in Shrewsbury MO with 250w/263m rebroadcasting Catholic 1460 KHOJ St. Charles.

Classical Coming Back To St. Louis

Update 4/8: After testing their signal for the past week, 107.3 K297BI/96.3 KIHT-HD2 offically debuted the “RAF-STL” Classical format at 10am this morning with Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. The press release announcing the launch of the station follows: With the flip of a switch, at precisely 10:00 a.m. CST on April 8, 2013, classical music and the sound of art will gloriously return to the St. Louis radio airwaves. The Radio Arts Foundation’s new station will be branded as “RAF-STL” and the station will operate on analog radio at 107.3 FM and on hybrid digital radio at KIHT 96.3 HD2. The FCC has begun to clear out the list of translator applications from 2003 that have been stuck in limbo while LPFM rules were set. With those now in place, hundreds of applications have been dismissed. Recnet features a list of the applications that remain active following the purge. Chicago Public Media has completed the move of 90.5 WRTE Chicago to 90.7. With the move to downtown Chicago, the station has relaunched with the user-generated programming of “Vocalo“, which is also heard on 89.5 WBEW Chesterton, IN. Its previous Spanish “Radio Arte” programming remains online. With it about to be bumped from its current home at 106.7 due to interference issue, Alternative KWSS-LP Scottsdale will relocate to 93.9 on March 10.
