For roughly twenty years, basically as long as there’s been Modern AC, “Cities 97” KTCZ Minneapolis has been darting back and forth around the place where that format and Triple-A converge. About five years ago, it landed in a place I really liked, finding the songs in Triple-A that deserved to cross to pop, playing them in aggressive rotations, and interspersing a few songs from Pink or Bruno Mars that were compatible sonically, if not in terms of artist image. Then the pop component kept growing. Cities never relinquished its name. It was still early on a few Triple-A or Alternative titles. iHeartMedia Seattle Senior VP/Programming Rich Davis is returning to Minneapolis as Program Director of Modern AC “Cities 97.1” KTCZ and CHR 101.3 KDWB. Davis will also serve as Director of Contemporary Hit Music Stations for the Western Great Lakes Region overseeing all the CHR’s in the region. He replaces JB Wilde who exited on Friday. Wilde had replaced Davis at KDWB/KTCZ in March 2015 after previously programming for the company in Atlanta, Greensboro, Hartford, Lexington, and Winchester VA. Wilde may remain with the company in a new capacity. iHeartMedia is transferring JB Wilde, Program Director of CHR’s “Kiss 95.7” WKSS Hartford and “KC 101” WKCI New Haven, CT to Minneapolis to program Hot AC “Cities 97” KTCZ and CHR 101.3 KDWB. Wilde heads to Minneapolis to take the opening created by Rich Davis’ move to Seattle as VP/Programming in December. Wilde will start in Minneapolis on April 20th. Before joining WKSS/WKCI in 2012, Wilde previously programmed for iHeart in Atlanta, Greensboro, Lexington, and Winchester VA. Additionally, former 95.1 WAPE Jacksonville Program Director ‘Kobe’ Fargo joins iHeartMedia’s “Hot 107.9” WWHT Syracuse as its new PD.
