Jill Strada rises from Director of Branding and Programming at CHR “Hits 97.3” WFLC and Urban “99 Jams” 99.1 WEDR to Director of Operations adding oversight of all programming marketing, promotions, and digital content at those two stations plus Soft AC “Easy 93.1” WFEZ and Urban AC “Hot 105” 105.1 WHQT. Strada joined WFLC as programmer in 2014 and added duties at WEDR the following year. DJ Laz has found a new home in the Miami market as he will join Cox CHR “Hits 97.3” WFLC Miami for mornings beginning Monday, August 25. Laz will be joined by Miss Kimmy, who currently serves as the local voice on sister Urban “99 Jamz” WEDR during the syndicated Rickey Smiley Morning Show. Laz previously spent 22 years at Beasley’s “Power 96” 96.5 WPOW and until last November was heard on SBS’ now defunct duo “DJ 106.7” WRMA in Miami and “Latino 96.3” KXOL Los Angeles. WFLC has been without a morning show since the station cancelled the KVJ Show at the end of April. Kevin, Virginia and Jason have since returned to the West Palm Beach market on Digity Media’s 97.9 WRMF.
Less than a year after making the high-profile addition of the KVJ Show for mornings, Cox CHR “Hits 97.3” WFLC Miami has cancelled the program. Hosts Kevin Rolston, Virginia Sinicki, Jason Pennington and producer Heather Nelson departed Clear Channel CHR “Wild 95.5” WLDI West Palm Beach for WFLC in July 2013, which later flipped from Hot AC “Coast” to CHR. In recent weeks the trio have had most of their Talk elements removed in favor of a more-music presentation. All references to the show has been wiped from the station’s website. The Kevin, Virginia, and Jason morning show and the remainder of the airstaff will remain in place at WFLC with the change as the station places more of an emphasis in competing against Clear Channel’s “Y100” WHYI. The station is emphasizing that listeners will be able to “pick the hits” via a new station app that will enable them to vote on songs to play and leave messages for the station. The program, hosted by Kevin Rolston, Virginia Sinicki and Jason Pennington and producer Heather Nelson will depart Clear Channel’s “Wild 95.5” WLDI West Palm Beach on Friday after 14 years and join Cox Hot AC “97.3 The Coast” WFLC Miami beginning Monday, August 5.
