Update 3/5: KOLC debuted its new identity as Country “Ten Country @ 97.3” at 12pm today. Promising to always play “10 songs in a row”, the station is taking direct aim at Cumulus’ “K-Bull 98.1” KBUL. The station’s introductory Facebook message states, We just signed on the air at noon today. Northern Nevada has a brand new country radio station. Unlike the other country stations, we play lots and lots of music — ALWAYS at least 10 songs in a row! The station moves into the nice that sister “Alice 96.5” KLCA has given up as it gradually shifted to CHR. Its positioned musically between Wilks AAA “100.1 The X” KTHX and Shamrock Alternative 104.1 KRZQ while targeting their female listeners. Update 3/18: 97.3 is now running a loop directing listeners to 104.9. The programming on K285EQ is now being originated by 1230 KJFK (which will soon assume the KSGG calls from 97.3), which dropped its previous Liberal Talk format. Update 9/3: 97.3 KSGG launched its new format as Urban “Swag 97.3” at 1:00 this afternoon. Original Report 8/30: Americom Broadcasting has moved Variety Hits “Bob 97.3” KZTQ Reno, NV to 93.7 replacing CHR “Z93.7” KWNZ. The 97.3 signal will return to Rhythmic CHR to the stronger signal as “Swag 97.3” in the coming days. 97.3 was CHR and then Rhythmic from 1985 to 2004 under the now dropped KWNZ calls. Swag will mostly compete directly with Citadel’s “Wild 102.9” KWYL. 97.3 is a Class C with 87 kW at 2113 feet, while 93.7 is a a Class A operating with 3.6 kW at 423 feet. The call signs have already shifted as 93.7 acquired the KZTQ calls today while 97.3 assumed KSGG.
