WUMJ Atlanta Returns To Majic Simulcast

After flipping from a simulcast of Urban AC “Majic 107.5” WAMJ Roswell to Classic Hip-Hop “Boom 102.9” W275BK Decatur at the beginning of this year, Radio-One is reversing course on 97.5 WUMJ Fayetteville GA. WUMJ covers the south side of the Atlanta market and the move comes after declining ratings for WAMJ. 97.5 WUMJ Atlanta Shifts From Majic To Boom

Radio-One has shifted 97.5 WUMJ Fayetteville/Atlanta from a simulcast of Urban AC “Majic 107.5” WAMJ Roswell to one of Classic Hip-Hop “Boom 102.9” W275BK Decatur. The change is coordinated with the debut tomorrow of the syndicated Ed Lover Show in mornings on Radio-One’s Classic Hip-Hop stations. The addition of WUMJ increases Boom’s coverage to the south of Atlanta including the Peachtree City and Newnan areas (Coverage Map). Clear Channel Acquires Suburban Atlanta Translator

Clear Channel has acquired the Construction Permit for 97.5 W248BV Cumming, GA from Community Public Radio for $110,000. The translator, located about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta, is currently licensed to operate with 4 watts at 199.5 meters (Coverage Map). Clear Channel’s application states the translator will be used to rebroadcast 105.7 WRDA Canton, GA. If Clear Channel has an intent to move W248BV closer to Atlanta or increase its power it will need to find a new frequency as to not interfere with Radio One’s “Majic 97.5” WUMJ Fayetteville.

The translator will continue to operate with 99 watts from the John Hancock Center and rebroadcasting an HD subchannel of 91.5 WBEZ. The translator’s coverage should cover much of the city of Chicago. Radio-One’s 97.5 WUMJ Fayetteville, GA which serves as part of the Urban AC “Majic 107.5/97.5” Urban AC simulcast has applied for a very minor change to its signal. Radio-One Atlanta Changes Complete

Radio-One has completed the shift of programming changes in Atlanta exactly as we predicted on January 19. “Praise 97.5” WPZE has shifted to 102.5, while 97.5 becomes WUMJ and becomes a complete simulcast of 107.5, which takes the WAMJ calls from 102.5 along with the syndicated Steve Harvey and Michael Baisden shows and local night host Si-Man.
