Gow Media’s two Sports station in Houston TX are consolidating programming. Starting, Monday, June 11, “Sports Map 94.1” K231CN Houston and “ESPN 97.5” KFNC Mont Belvieu will simulcast three shows. “The Bench” with John Granato & Lance Zierlein, which currently airs on KFNC will now air on both stations from 7-9am. Charlie Pallilo’s 94.1 show from 11am-1pm will also now air on both signals. Fred Faour and A.J. Gow Media Sports “ESPN 97.5” KFNC Mont Belvieu/Houston is reuniting Lance Zierlein and John Granato in mornings from 7am-930am starting Monday, November 27. The duo hosted mornings together on CBS’ 610 KILT Houston from 1997-2007 before jumping to Gow’s 1560 KGOW. Zierlein then hosted mornings on iHeartMedia’s “Sports 790” KBME until his contract expired in June. Granato has been hosting a pair of midday shows on KFNC with Raheel Ramzanali and Delvin Olaleye from 9-11am and with Sean Salisbury from 11am-1pm. As we first indicated in last week’s Domain Insight, Gow Media’s Yahoo! Sports Radio will indeed relaunch as SB Nation Radio on August 1. Vox Media, which owns the SB Nation blog network, and Gow will partner to increase the audio production of the two companies as well through podcasts and new on-air programming. SB Nation talent such as Spencer Hall, Paul Flannery, Dan Rubenstein, Ariel Helwani and Thomas George and writers from the 300+ affiliate websites will play a role on the rebranded radio network. Gow Media owns the radio network, PodcastArena.com, as well as “YSR 1560” KGOW and “ESPN 97.5‘ KFNC in the Houston market.
Update 4:15pm: Gow has formally announced the acquisition of 97.5 KFNC for $5.05 Million. They will begin operating the station via LMA on September 1. The Houston Chronicle reports that two Houston market stations have been sold. Gow Communications, owner of Sports “1560 The Game” KGOW and the Yahoo! Sports Radio Network has signed a letter of intent to acquire “ESPN 97.5” KFNC, while EMF Broadcasting will purchase AAA 103.7 KHJK. Both stations had been owned by Cumulus Media but were spun off into a trust run by Larry Patrick as part of a pre-packaged bankruptcy.
