After stunting all weekend with Rolf Harris’ “Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport”, KNXR flipped to Rock leaning Classic Hits “Minnesota 97.5” at 12pm today. The new format takes on Townsquare Media’s rimshot Oldies “Cool 104.3” KVGO Spring Valley and iHeartMedia’s Classic Rock “Laser 101.7” KRCH. KNXR Sold Again; Back To Beautiful Music?

Greg Jensen’s Hometown Broadcasting of Rochester has sold Hot AC “97.5 Pulse-FM” KNXR Rochester MN to John Linder’s Blooming Prairie Farm Radio for $3.2 million. Jensen acquired KNXR in October 2014 for $1.1 million and flipped it to its current Hot AC format this past February. Prior to the sale and format change KNXR was one of the last holdout in the Beautiful Music format. Linder doesn’t own any other stations in Rochester, however KNXR will have coverage overlap with his “True Oldies 1170” KOWZ Waseca and AC 100.9 KOWZ-FM Blooming Prairie. KNXR Returns As 97.5 Pulse-FM

After a couple hours testing/stunting with NOAA Weather Radio, Hometown Broadcasting’s 97.5 KNXR Rochester, MN debuted its new identity this afternoon as Hot AC “97.5 Pulse-FM“. Tom Garrett, the former MD/Morning Host at Townsquare Media’s “Y105” 105.3 KYBA will serve as GM/PD for the station as well as host the “Med City Morning Show” from 5:30 to 10:00am. KNXR is positioning as “Rochester’s Adult Hit Music From The 80s To Now”. Station Sales Week Of 10/17

Station Sales Greg Jensen’s Hometown Broadcasting of Rochester is acquiring Beautiful Music 97.5 KNXR Rochester, MN. The purchase price is contingent on Minnesota Public Radio agreeing to a lease or allowing the buyer to purchase the seller’s share of Silver Creek Tall Tower Associates, which operates KNXR’s transmission facility. If Jensen acquires the share of the tower site he will pay $1.1 million, if he simply leases the site the sale price drops to $714,910. Hometown Broadcasting also owns Classic Rock “Power 96” KQPR Albert Lea and Classic Country 970 KQAQ Austin, MN.
