Entercom Trades Boston & Seattle Spin-Offs To iHeartMedia For Richmond & Chattanooga

In the third spin-off announced as part of its DOJ settlement, Entercom will trade its remaining Boston and Seattle spin-offs to iHeartMedia for their clusters in Richmond VA and Chattanooga TN. iHeartMedia will receive CBS Radio’s News/Talk 1030 WBZ, Classic Rock 100.7 WZLX and Entercom’s Talk 680 WRKO and Urban AC “The New 97.7” WKAF in Boston and Variety Hits 96.5 Jack-FM” KJAQ, Classic Rock 102.5 KZOK, Sports “CBS Sports 1090” KFNQ in Seattle. Entercom Narrows Down 16 Stations To Be Divested To Complete CBS Radio Merger

In order to complete its merger with CBS Radio, Entercom has agreed to divest sixteen stations in order to ensure regulatory approval. In a memo sent to CBS Radio employees CEO Andre Fernandez revealed that the following stations will be divested: Boston: CBS Radio’s News/Talk 1030 WBZ, Sports “98.5 The Sports Hub” WBZ-FM, Classic Rock 100.7 WZLX and Entercom’s Talk 680 WRKO and Urban AC “The New 97.7” WKAF. The New 97.7 Boston Debuts KJ & Kesha Morning Show

Entercom Urban AC “The New 97.7” WKAF Brockton/Boston debuted its morning show today hosted by KJ Carson and Kesha Monk. Carson has been hosting an internet radio show and podcast since leaving SiriusXM’s “20 on 20” in 2011. He has also worked at WJMH Greensboro, WPEG Charlotte, KPRS and KMXV Kansas City, WWWQ Atlanta, and WIHT Washington during his career. This is a return to Boston as he spent eight months in mornings at Urban AC 1090 WILD in 2000. Entercom Debuts Urban AC “The New 97.7” Boston

Urban AC has returned to Boston as Entercom has dropped the simulcast of Rock 107.3 WAAF and launches Urban AC “The New 97.7” on WKAF Brockton MA at 11am today. The new format is launching with 10,000 songs-in-a-row under Program Director Chris Malone. Malone rejoins Entercom from Cumulus Memphis where he worked middays at Urban AC 103.5 WRBO and served as Imaging Director for Classic Hip-Hop “98.9 The Vibe” WKIM. He begin his career at Entercom Rhythmic AC “Snap 94.1” WSNA Memphis working up from weekends to Assistant Program Director. Format Change Imminent At 97.7 WKAF Boston

Entercom Rock 107.3 WAAF Westborough/Boston MA will no longer be heard on simulcaster 97.7 WKAF Brockton. WAAF, which revamped its lineup today, has been running sweepers on 97.7 exclusively telling listeners to listen on 107.3, 97.7-HD2, 93.7 WEEI-HD3, or online going forward. The new format will debut on 97.7 by the end of the week. WKAF has simulcasted WAAF since Entercom acquired then Urban AC WILD-FM from Radio-One in 2006. Rumors of a format change at the station were first reported by Boston Radio Watch in late December.

WAAF Revamps On-Air Lineup For 2017

Entercom Rock 107.3 WAAF Westborough/97.7 WKAF Brockton/Boston MA is making changes to all three of its weekday dayparts starting January 3. Midday host Mike Hsu is rejoining the Hill-Man morning show that he was previously part of as news director until 2005. Mistress Carrie will move from afternoons back to the midday slot she handed to Hsu in 2005. Those moves will make way for the addition of a new afternoon show hosted by comedians Matty Blake and Nick Stevens. Massachusetts native Blake currently hosts “The Curse of Oak Island: Drilling Down” on History Channel. Stevens is originally from the South Shore suburbs of Boston and had been based as a stand-up in New York.
