W249CB is moving to 99.5 due to a since cancelled CP for Classic Hits “97 Big-FM” 97.7 WMGZ Eatonton GA to relocate to Lexington to serve the Athens market. W249CB will see no changes to its current 250w/333m facilities. The move will set off a chain reaction as Ted McCall’s 97.1 W246BU Spartanburg will move 97.7 in Greenville rebroadcasting an HD subchannel of Entercom’s 93.7 WFBC-FM.
Cox Media Group has launched Variety Hits “97.7 Chuck-FM” in Greenville, SC. The station, W249CB Six Mile, SC is being fed via Cox’ 107.3 WJMZ-HD3 Anderson. The Variety Hits format had previously been heard in Greenville from August 2007 to June 2008 on Entercom’s “106.3 Charlie-FM” WGVC now News/Talk WYRD-FM. W249CB is owned by Tower Above Media and has just completed an upgrade from 38 to 250 watts giving it coverage over much of Greenville.
