Mighty Media Group has moved Variety Hits “97.7 Guess-FM” 1430 WOWW/W249BN Memphis to 830 WUMY/99.3 W257CY Collierville, TN. The move transfers the format from the station and translator owned by Flinn Broadcasting to Mighty Media owned signals. Concurrently Classic Country “Y105.5” W288BJ changes its originating station to 1180 KXIQ Turrell, AR. 1430 and 97.7 are currently redirecting listeners to the 99.3 signal. 99.3 W257CY operates with 99 watts at 289.8 meters from the WKNO tower near Bartlett.

Mighty Media Group has launched Variety Hits “97.7 GuessFM” in Memphis. Being fed by translator 97.7 W249BN Memphis, programming is being fed by 1430 WOWW. The station and translator signed-on last December by owner Flinn Broadcasting as “Memphis Kissin Country” but quickly shifted to a simulcast of Mighty Media’s “95.3 The Rebel” WEBL. The new format is being billed as “a non-stop marathon of all kinds of pop, rock and soul hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s and Today!”. The station is running jockless and commercial free. Flinn Broadcasting’s “Sports 56” WHBQ Memphis has simultaneously added an FM and TV simulcast as the station begins simulcasting on 87.7 WPGF-LP. The LPTV station had been rebroadcasting Flinn’s 1210 WMPS since February 2011 when both stations were leased to MPS Broadcasting. The move gives WHBQ and FM signal to match Entercom’s “ESPN 92.9” WMFS/680 WJCE. Flinn had recently purchased 97.7 W249BD Ellendale to simulcast WHBQ. With the addition of 87.7 to 560, the translator has modified its license to now simulcast Flinn’s Spanish “Radio Ambiente” 1030 WGSF when it completes its upgrade from 19 to 250 watts.
Following the shutdown of Martz Communication’s pair of HD fed translators, the company has begun selling off its properties in the market. 97.5 W248AQ Harrison MI has been sold to Salem Communications for $250,000 who will use it to rebroadcast Conservative Talk “1400 The Patriot” WDTK. Martz had purchased the translator last fall for $32,000 and had gained a CP to move it to 92.7 with 250 watts. Following the debut of “ESPN Deportes Chicago” 97.5 W248AO, EMF will be pairing with Clear Channel to launch a second translator in the city. 96.7 W244BQ Park Ridge has applied to operate with 85 watts at 1181 feet with a directional antenna pointed northwest away from WSSR Joliet.
