97.7 South Bend

Station Sales Week Of 9/15

Nearly three years after selling CHR “U93” 92.9 WNDV-FM South Bend, “Rock 97.7” WYXX Goshen, and 1980s Hits 102.3 WYET New Carlisle IN to Sound Management LLC, Artistic Media Partners is reacquiring the three stations for $3.4 million. Sound Management had paid $3.5 million for the stations in October 2014, but the owners of that company also make up the management and part of the ownership of Artistic. The deal reunites the three FMs with Standards 1620 WDND South Bend and two FMs in Bloomington IN. The estate of Joel Kinlow sells Silent 101.5 KAVH Eudora AR to Larry Fuss’ Contemporary Communications for $75,000. Contemporary owns Country “Kix 92.7” WMYQ Moorhead MS and Fuss is a partner in Delta Radio Network which owns six stations across the Mi...[Read More]

A Tale Of Two Launches

Two format changes took place this week in the South Bend market. Midwest Family Broadcasting launched CHR “Live 99.9” WQLQ Benton Harbor MI following a weekend of stunting with television theme songs. Across town Artistic Media Partners broke off the simulcast of Classic Hits “The Stream” to debut Classic Rock “Rock 97.7” WYXX Goshen. WQLQ’s launch was the closest to having a fully fledged station ready at birth we’ve had in years. Unlike most launches that go for the jockless 10,000 song commercial-free debut, “Live 99.9” had a clear plan of attack against Artistic’s “U93” 92.9 WNDV. Unlike most format changes that are kept secret until the second it goes live, WQLQ announced its intention a week ahead of time ...[Read More]

South Bend’s Stream Splits In Two

While Mid-West Family Broadcasting stunts on 99.9 WHFB-FM Benton Harbor MI/South Bend IN in preparation of its flip to CHR on Tuesday, crosstown Artistic Media Partners made a format change of its own in South Bend. 97.7 WSSM Goshen broke off its simulcast of Classic Hits “The Stream” 102.3 WSMM New Carlisle and flipped to Classic Rock “Rock 97.7“. New WYXX call letters are pending for the station. The South Bend market has been without a dedicated Classic Rock station since 95.7 WAOR flipped to Sports in 2012. The Stream, Midwest Family Classic Hits “Z94.3” WZOC, and Federated Media Rock “103.9 The Bear” WRBR filled the niche by default. With Indiana stalwart The Bob & Tom Show being dropped by WHFB-FM as part of their flip from Country...[Read More]
