KNRQ Eugene Moves To 103.7

Update 7/28: KNRQ made its move to 103.7 at 12am this morning. The KXPC call letters made the move with 97.9 up to Aloha in the Portland market, which was testing earlier this morning in order to file for its permanent license. Original Report 7/25: With its 97.9 signal about to be moved into Portland, Cumulus Rock 97.9 KNRQ Eugene, OR will move its programming to 103.7 on Sunday, July 28. Cumulus acquired 103.7 KXPC-FM Harrisburg, OR from EMF Broadcasting last year to replace the 97.9 facility in its Eugene cluster. FCC Update 7/16

Cumulus’ 97.9 KNRQ-FM Eugene, OR has filed a request for expedited approval to shift its pending move into Aloha in the Portland market to a new tower site. Claiming that it needs to be built before August 1 in order to close on its swap with EMF Broadcasting of 97.5 KYGA (was KRUZ-FM) Goleta CA and 103.7 KXPC-FM Harrisburg OR before the California license renewal deadline. If approved, KNRQ will now be built as a C1 with 9.7kW at 472 meters from the KGW-TV owned tower (instead of 50kw at 387 meters from a different location). Cumulus states it can build the new facility quickly, but if the new application is not approved before the August 1 deadline it will delay construction until at least December. KNRQ Portland Move Delayed

Cumulus’ move of 97.9 KNRQ-FM Eugene, OR into the Portland market has been delayed. The station has held a CP to change city of license to the Portland suburb of Aloha where it was to operate as a Class C1 with 10kW at 470 meters. That construction permit was set to expire on January 16, 2013. In its new application Cumulus states it was unable to build at that tower site in the remaining time allotted and has located a new location where it can build within a few months of being authorized. The new application seeks to operate the station with 52kW at 387 meters. The station would transmit from the “Stonehenge” antenna site utilized by eight other Portland area FM’s and is the planned location of KWLZ-FM when it moves into the market on 96.3. Cumulus & EMF Swap Stations

Cumulus Media and EMF Broadcasting have agreed to swap a pair of stations on the west coast. AAA 97.5 KRUZ Santa Barbara will go to EMF and join its “K-Love” network in exchange for EMF’s 103.7 KXPC-FM Lebanon OR. EMF will begin programming KRUZ via Time Brokerage Agreement as soon as Cumulus completes the move of Classic Rock “106.3 The Surf” KRRF south from Goleta in the Santa Barbara market to Oak View in the Oxnard/Ventura market. Cumulus will also retain the rights to the KRUZ call letters. KXPC-FM has a pending Construction Permit as well that will move the station from Lebanon, midway between Salem and Eugene, to Harrisburg OR directly in the center of the Eugene market.
