iHeartMedia Rock “98 Rock” 97.9 WXTB Tampa has parted ways with Program Director/Midday Host Ty Bailey. Bailey had been with iHeartMedia since 2008 and previously worked at “Channel 104.3” WCHH Baltimore and “DC 101” WWDC-FM Washington DC before joining WXTB as PD and Morning Host in August 2012. She was also one of the most prolific voice trackers for the company’s Alternative, Classic Rock, and Rock stations including middays at “Radio 105.7” WRDA Atlanta. Rick Everett, who currently serves as North Florida Regional VP/Programming and Program Director of 101.1 WJRR Orlando will add the programming duties for WXTB. Creative Director Josh Jensen is currently holding the midday slot previously filled by Bailey.
As part of a multi-year renewal with iHeartMedia, the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers are moving their game broadcasts to Rock “98 Rock” 97.9 WXTB Clearwater. WXTB will succeed Country “US 103.5” WFUS and Sports 620 WDAE as the home for the franchise’s gameday broadcasts. WDAE will continue to be the home for ancillary programming including weekly coach and player shows. WFUS had been the Buccaneers flagship station since Clear Channel took over the franchise’s radio rights in 2004. Prior to that the team had been heard on then CBS Radio Country 99.5 WQYK. Gene Deckerhoff, Dave Moore, and TJ Rives will remain in place as the broadcast team for the Buccaneers.
