AJ Machado & Sara Perry Move From KYXY To Sunny 98.1 San Diego

For the second time in seven months, AJ Machado is changing stations in San Diego. Machado first moved from CHR “Energy 103.7” KEGY to CBS Radio sister AC 96.5 KYXY last August. He was paired with Sara Perry and Hula Ramos at KYXY and now the three of them are moving to new Entercom sister Classic Hits “Sunny 98.1” KXSN for mornings effective Thursday, February 1 where it will be rebranded as “AJ & Sara on Sunny 98.1”. Sunny 98.1 San Diego Shifts To Classic Hits

Entercom AC “Sunny 98.1” KXSN San Diego has shifted to Classic Hits. Now positioning itself as “San Diego’s Greatest Hits”, the station’s playlist is now focusing on the 1970s through 90s. The move places KXSN up against Broadcast Company of America’s Classic Hits “105.7 Max-FM” XHPRS-FM Tecate MX. This is the second time in a year that the station has changed directions despite being the most listened to station in the market. Entercom and Bonneville have announced they will begin operating their newly acquired stations on Friday, July 17 with Entercom closing on its acquisition of Lincoln Financial Media. Entercom Acquires Lincoln Financial Media

The Entercom/Lincoln Financial Media deal has been filed with the FCC. To comply with market cap limits in Denver, Sports “104.3 The Fan” KKFN Longmont will be placed in the Pikes Peak Trust run by Elliot Evers for divestiture to a third party. The remainder of the Lincoln Financial Media stations will begin to be operated by Entercom via Time Brokerage Agreement on January 15 or two days after DOJ approval of the deal, whichever is the latter of the two. During the TBA and until the actual sales close, Entercom agrees to not change any formats on the to-be-acquired stations. Examining The Entercom Lincoln Financial Deal

This morning Entercom shocked the industry with their acquisition of Lincoln Financial Media for $105 million. Entercom acquired fifteen stations and a translator for less money than Steel City Media paid for Wilks four station in Kansas City earlier this year, a smaller market than any of the Lincoln stations. To show how much station prices have dropped, the price is nearly equal to the amount Greater Media paid for Lincoln’s three stations in Charlotte, NC in 2008.
