Scripps Sells Tulsa Cluster To Griffin Communications

EW Scripps has announced the first of its planned divestments of its radio properties with the sale of its five stations in Tulsa OK to Griffin Communications for $12.5 million. The privately held Griffin currently owns four television stations in Oklahoma: CBS affiliate KOTV 6 and CW affiliate KQCQ 19 in Tulsa and CBS/CW affiliate KWTV 9 and MyNetworkTV affiliate KSBI 52 in Oklahoma City. The company has a long history in radio as the previous owners of 1430 KTUL Tulsa and 1520 KOMA Oklahoma City. It also currently owns the statewide Radio Oklahoma Network. Bonneville Classic Rock “98.5 K-Fox” KUFX San Jose has hired ‘Joey V’ Vlazny-Smith as morning host starting Monday, April 16. Vlazny exited his position at Entercom Classic Hip-Hop “Q102.1” KRBQ in January where he served as Assistant Program Director, Imaging Director and Morning co-host. He has worked in the San Francisco market since 2005 with stops at Dance “Energy 92.7” KNGY, “Oldies 103.7” KOSF, and Country “95.7 The Wolf” KBWF. Scripps Country 98.5 KVOO Tulsa has tabbed 94.7 WQDR Raleigh morning co-host Marty ‘The One Man Party’ Young as its new morning host. Young has been with WQDR since 2002 and part of the “Q Morning Crew” with Mike Wheless and Janie Carothers? since 2006. At KVOO, he fills the opening created by Rowdy Yates’ exit last September alongside Sunny Leigh. Mark Bolger has exited mornings at Townsquare Media Hot AC “Mix 97.7” WCZX Hyde Park/Poughkeepsie NY after seven years at the station.
