Arizona Diamondbacks Extend Rights Deal With 98.7 KMVP-FM

Bonneville Sports “Arizona Sports 98.7” KMVP-FM Phoenix will remain the flagship station for the Arizona Diamondbacks through at least the 2022 season. KMVP and/or sister “ESPN 620” KTAR Phoenix, which has carried the franchise’s games since its inaugural 1998 season, will carry all regular season games. Greg Schulte, Tom Candiotti and Mike Ferrin remain the broadcast team for the games. Schulte has been the radio voice of the Diamondbacks since the beginning, while Candiotti will be entering his 12th season as analyst and Ferrin his second as pre and post-game show host and fill-in play-by-play voice. Bonneville To Launch ESPN Phoenix In September

After adding an FM simulcast for “Arizona Sports” 620 KTAR Phoenix in January, Bonneville will complete the move of the format to FM exclusively in September. On September 15, KTAR will become “ESPN Phoenix” with the national ESPN Radio feed around the clock. The local sports format will continue on 98.7 KMVP-FM. Local play-by-play broadcasts will be split between 620 and 98.7 to minimize conflicts. Bonneville holds the rights to all four major league franchises in the Phoenix market along with Arizona State University Football and Basketball. Phoenix’s Peak Flips To Sports

Bonneville Variety Hits “98.7 The Peak” KPXK Phoenix flipped to a simulcast of Sports “Arizona Sports 620” KTAR at 10am today. The move brings the play-by-play rights to all four Phoenix professional sports teams and Arizona State University to FM. In the December PPM’s KTAR registered a 2.0 share on 620, while the Peak had a 3.5 share. The move in a way brings KTAR full circle as 98.7 was the original KTAR-FM. Those calls are now on sister News/Talk 92.3 KTAR-FM. Monday marks a first for the state of Arizona. Sports fans are now able to hear sports talk on FM — specifically 98.7 FM.
