Cumulus Media has hired Rick Vaughn as Program Director at Alternative “Alt 94.9” KHTB and Rock “K-Bear 101” KBER Salt Lake City. Vaughn, who previously programmed such stations as “103.5 Kiss-FM” WKSC Chicago, “Q102” WIOQ Philadelphia, and “Power 96.1” WWPQ and “Radio 105.7” WRDA Atlanta most recently was operating talent coaching consultancy AIM, READY, FIRE LLC. The addition of Vaughn leads to the exit of Sue Kelly as PD of KBER and KHTB. Cumulus Adult CHR “B98.7” KBEE Salt Lake City has shifted to AC. The move comes with a new on-air lineup. Program Director Dain Craig moves from afternoons to mornings along with Mandi Hildt to replace the syndicated Bert Show. Bobbi Maxwell from sister “Warm 98” WRRM Cincinnati will host middays and the syndicated John Tesh is added for nights. KBEE has bounced from AC to Hot AC and back multiple times in its history. In the January 2015 Nielsen Audio PPM ratings it registered a 1.9 share of the Salt Lake audience. The new AC direction places KBEE closer to Bonneville’s market leading AC 100.3 KSFI and KLO Broadcasting’s Soft AC “Sunny 103.1” KSQN.
Cumulus has shifted “B98.7” KBEE Salt Lake City from AC to Adult CHR. The station is now branding itself as “Utah’s Hit Music Station” and running commercial free through the holiday weekend. Out with the changes are husband and wife morning team Todd & Erin Collard who were dismissed by the company yesterday. Replacing them is the syndicated Kidd Kraddick. KBEE registered a 3.0 share in the May PPMs. It continues to exist in a crowded Salt Lake City marketplace between existing Hot AC’s “Now 97.9” KBZN and “My 99.5” KJMY as well as an AC and two Mainstream CHRs.
