FCC Report 11/27: A New Full Power FM For Fort Walton Beach

Clay Holladay's Northwest Florida Media is seeking to bring a new Class A signal to 106.9 in Fort Walton Beach FL. The addition of a new 106.9 allocation to Fort Walton Beach is made possible by Holladay's Gulf South Communications completing the downgrade of CHR 106.7 WKMX Enterprise AL from a Class C to C1, while moving eastward towards Dothan. Holladay sold a five station cluster in Fort Walton Beach to Cumulus in 2002 for $28.5 million. If the new allocation is granted by the FCC it will go into the next auction for new FM signals.

Broadway Media Swaps Two Out Of Trust For Translators

Broadway Media has filed a pair of deals to swap out stations held by its Divestiture Trust for translators in the Salt Lake City/Provo region. In the first deal, Broadway will swap SLC Divestiture Trust II’s 95.9 KMGR Delta (with a CP to move to 95.7 Gunnison) and $200,000 to Kevin Terry’s Radio Rancho for 95.9 K240EP Tooele and 104.7 K284AY Stockton. Radio Rancho will be responsible for building out all three CP’s. KMGR is currently operated via Sanpete County Broadcasting Company via LMA as Soft AC “Classy 102.7“, utlizing the frequency of one of its translators. Clear Channel Debuts Utah’s New Country

Clear Channel has flipped Alternative “Project 99.1” K256AE Provo/99.5 KJMY-HD2 Bountiful, UT to Country. “Country 99.1” launched this morning with the Bobby Bones show. The station becomes the fourth Country station in the Salt Lake City market although the only one superserving the Provo area as it joins KSOP’s “Z104.3” KSOP-FM, Cumulus’ “K-Bull 93” KUBL, and Broadway Media’s “101.5 The Eagle” KEGA. K256AE held a 0.3 share of the market in the April 2014 PPMs.

99.1 Provo Shifts To Alternative

Following the transfer of its Classic Rock “Rock 99.1” brand from the translator to 106.5 KOSY in December, Clear Channel’s K256AE Provo, UT has debuted its new format. The station shifted to Alternative this morning as “Project 99.1” running programming from the Premium Choice “Alternative Project” feed. K256AE serves the southern portion of the Salt Lake City metro and joins Simmons’ “X96” KXRK and Cumulus Adult Alternative “101.9 The End” KENZ in the format.

106.5 Salt Lake Is Less KOSY

Clear Channel has upgraded the Classic Rock format of “Rock 99.1” K256AE Provo, UT to the full market signal that was home to AC “Today’s 106.5” KOSY Spanish Fork/Salt Lake City. The new “Rock 106.5” launched this morning displacing the Christmas music heard on KOSY. The 99.1 translator continues to simulcast the Premium Choice fed Classic Rock format for now at least. In the November PPM monthly, KOSY was fifteenth in the market with a 2.5 share. The translator registered a 0.5 serving about half of the market.
