After selling 830 WUMY/105.5 W288BJ Memphis TN to GMF-Christian Media for $706,823 in May, Memphis First Ventures sells the remainder of Classic Hits “Guess-FM” to Butron Media Corporation. Butron will pay $799,000 for 1180 WGUE Turrell AR/99.3 W257CY Memphis/101.5 K268DA Memphis. While the company owns no other stations, it is in the process of acquiring Nuevo Radio Ambiente from Maria del Carmen Reyes for $250,000. That company operates Flinn Broadcasting’s 1030 WGSF Memphis under a Time Brokerage Agreement as Regional Mexican “Ambiente 1030“. The last translator carrying Guess-FM programming, Edgewater Broadcasting’s 100.1 W261CS Southaven MS hold a CP to change tower sites and rebroadcast EMF’s 94.9 WKVF Bartlett.
Mighty Media Group Classic Hits “99.3 Guess-FM” 830 WGUE/99.3 W257CY Memphis has expanded to three additional frequencies. Classic Country “Big Country” 1180 WUMY Turrell/100.1 W261CE Southaven, MS/105.5 W288BJ Memphis dropped its format on April 1 to begin simulcasting WGUE. The station is pushing that the addition of the two additional translators allows them to reach the bulk of the Memphis market as 99.3 covers the eastern side of Memphis, 100.1 the southern end, and 105.5 downtown. Additionally, former 94.1 WKQK morning host Steve Conley has joined “Guess-FM” for afternoons.
On the heels of Entercom flipping Classic Hits 94.1 WKQK Memphis to Country on Friday, Mighty Media Group has tweaked Variety Hits “99.3 Guess-FM” 830 WGUE/99.3 W257CY Memphis to Classic Hits. The move will have WGUE focus on music from the 60’s through the 90’s as it now positions itself as “Classic Hits For Memphis”.
Mighty Media Group has moved Variety Hits “97.7 Guess-FM” 1430 WOWW/W249BN Memphis to 830 WUMY/99.3 W257CY Collierville, TN. The move transfers the format from the station and translator owned by Flinn Broadcasting to Mighty Media owned signals. Concurrently Classic Country “Y105.5” W288BJ changes its originating station to 1180 KXIQ Turrell, AR. 1430 and 97.7 are currently redirecting listeners to the 99.3 signal. 99.3 W257CY operates with 99 watts at 289.8 meters from the WKNO tower near Bartlett.
Memphis First Ventures has agreed to purchase 99.3 W257CY Collierville, TN for $175,000. The translator CP is currently licensed to rebroadcast EMF Broadcasting’s 94.9 WKVF Bartlett, and will operate with 99 watts from WKVF’s tower giving it coverage of eastern Memphis and its suburbs. Memphis First Ventures is the licensee of the stations operating under the name Mighty Media Group including Country “95.3 The Rebel” WEBL and Classic Country “Y105.5” 830 WUMY/105.5 W288BJ. Mighty Media Group also operates the Flinn Broadcasting owned Variety Hits “97.7 Guess-FM” 1430 WOWW/97.7 W249BN.
