Reading Gets Loud With Hip-Hop

Major Keystone LLC has signed on Rhythmic CHR “Loud 99.3” W257DI Reading PA fed via Cumulus Media’s 100.7 WLEV-HD4 Allentown. Running commercial-free for the remainder of the summer, the station is positioning itself as “Reading’s Hip-Hop Station”. Operating with 100w/-24m, the translator covers all of Reading and its adjacent suburbs. The new format gives Reading its own younger skewing hit based station as the market was previously reliant on stations from the nearby Allentown, Lancaster, and Philadelphia market. Major Keystone LLC purchased W257DI from Spanish American Civic Association For Equality for $15,000 earlier this year.

The FCC has quickly acted on the STA request made by Riviera Broadcasting to accelerate its move of 96.1 K241BQ Fort McDowell AZ to Phoenix' South Mountain prior to the granting of its Construction Permit by denying it. The FCC states that "K27OBZ's problems do not justify STA for K241BQ. Nor does the STA request supersede the need for a construction permit before such changes can be made. Finally, we do not consider STA requests made for the convenience of the applicant." K241BQ cannot move to South Mountain until the application is granted. Original Report 2/12: Riviera Broadcasting is seeking Special Temporary Authority to expedite its relocation of 96.1 K241BQ Fort McDowell AZ to the South Mountain Tower Farm just south of Phoenix.
