Dave & Mahoney Enter Syndication With Albany NY Addition

Townsquare Media Alternative “Alt 105.7” WQSH Malta/Albany NY has become the first syndication affiliate for the Dave & Mahoney Morning Show. Dave Farra and Jason Mahoney are on their second tour of duty based at Entercom Alternative “X107.5” KXTE Las Vegas. The hosted mornings there from 2009-2015 before a 16 month run at “Mix 96.5” KHMX Houston. The duo returned to KXTE in January 2017. Townsquare flipped WQSH to Alternative in March one week after Pamal launched “Alt 104.9” WINU in the market. WINU added Premiere Networks’ “The Woody Show” for mornings today.

The Jockey Returns To Albany

After selling AC “101.3 The Jockey” WJKE Stillwater NY to Educational Media Foundation last fall, Empire Broadcasting has relaunched the brand on 1160 WAIX Mechanicsville/106.1 W291BY Albany. The new version of the station, which is Hot AC, replaces AAA “106.1 The X” on those frequencies. WAIX previously featured a Hot AC format as “Mix 106.1” from 2014-2016. The AAA “106.1 The X” format is now heard on 900 WABY Watervliet replacing Adult Standards on that frequency. WABY holds a CP for a translator on 94.1 Clifton Park NY.

The station serves the northern portion of the Albany NY market including Saratoga. The signal will be paired with EMF’s 94.5 WYKV Ravena/Albany whose coverage contour nearly ends where WJKE’s begins. Empire Broadcasting launched AAA “106.1 The X” 1160 WAIX Mechanicville/106.1 W291BY Albany NY this morning. Positioned as “Albany’s Independent Experience”, the station will feature two local personalties: Flounder and Brad Berletic. reports that Flounder has worked at multiple other stations in the Albany market, while Berletic is a relative newcomer after a mid-life career change. The AAA format replaces the combination of Bloomberg Business and Conservative Talk hosts Joe Pags and Mike Gallagher that WAIX/W291BY has aired for the past eleven months under “Empire News Network” branding.
