Viva Media Flips Wild 104.3 Amarillo In Middle Of Charity Remote

If there is ever an inopportune time for a format change, Viva Media found it on Saturday, July 28 as the company flipped CHR “Wild 104.3” KQFX Borger/Amarillo TX to a simulcast of Regional Mexican “96.1 La Poderosa” KBEX-FM Dalhart while Program Director/Morning Host Tommy ‘The Hacker’ Hurtado and co-host Angel Dee were hosting a live remote for a Salvation Army sock drive. Hurtado tells RadioInsight that he and his co-workers were notified of their termination and the format change while on the air at the sock drive via text message. He is asking that anyone who can donate new socks or money to purchase shoes in the Amarillo area to go to the local Salvation Army office to help make up for the lost traffic from the plug being pulled on the station. Cumulus Amarillo Country Pair To Swap Frequencies

Cumulus Media will swap frequencies of its two Country stations in Amarillo TX on Monday, January 15. Texas/Red Dirt Country “107.1 The Armadillo” KPUR Canyo will move to the 100kW/119m Class C1 signal currently held by “95.7 Nash Icon” KARX Claude, while that station moves to the 6kW/96m Class A 107.1 signal. In the Spring 2017 Nielsen Audio ratings, “The Armadillo” held a 2.0 share of the Amarillo market, while “Nash Icon” registered a 1.7 share. Lucke, who serves as Station Manager for KHIL and current sister Variety Hits “X-Wave 104.9” KWCX-FM will continue to operate KWCX-FM until that station completes its move to Tanque Verde in the Phoenix market. KGNC Amarillo Adds ESPN Programming & FM Signal

Alpha Media News/Talk 710 KGNC Amarillo TX has expanded to FM with the sign-on of 97.5 K248DE. With the addition of the FM signal, the station is also picking up the ESPN Radio affiliation previously held by My Home Team Media’s “ESPN 1010” KTNZ. KGNC will retain its current News/Talk programming from 5am to 5pm weekdays and carry Sports content from 5pm to 5am and weekends. Radio By Grace Expands In Amarillo

Grace Community Church of Amarillo has closed on its purchase of Hot AC “Fun 99.7” KBZD Amarillo TX and has flipped the station to its Christian AC “Radio By Grace” network. The network programming had been heard in Amarillo on rimshot 88.3 KRBG Umbarger and translator 102.3 K272EM Amarillo. The addition of KBZD gives Radio By Grace a 21.5kW/107m Class C3 signal in Amarillo itself.

KPRF Amarillo Flips To Classic Rock

After a day and a half of stunting, Townsquare Media has flipped Variety Hits “98.7 Jack-FM” KPRF Amarillo TX to Classic Rock “Lonestar 98.7“. The flip fills the Classic Rock vacancy in the Amarillo market. Alpha Media’s market leading Classic Hits “100.9 The Eagle” KXGL and Cumulus Media’s Active Rock “Rock 108” 107.9 KZRK were the closest things the market had. Viva Media LLC launched Rhythmic Hot AC “Wild 104.3” KQFX Borger/Amarillo at 12pm today. The station is focusing on Party Hits of the 1990s through now with Rihanna, Drake, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Dr. Dre, Maroon 5, and Pitbull as core artists. Townsquare Media has relaunched Country “101.9 Blake-FM” KATP Amarillo TX as “101.9 The Bull“. The relaunch comes with a new airstaff as KATP adds the syndicated Bobby Bones Show for mornings and Braden Smith replaces Amy Garcia in afternoons. Smith joined Townsquare Amarillo as cluster Operations Manager and KATP Program Director last month from Alpha Media’s now defunct “98.9 The Wolf” WLFV Richmond VA. FCC Report 12/18: Identity Theft Leads To LPFM Deletion

The FCC has deleted the license for Spanish Tropical "Zima 103.5" WZMA-LP New Britain CT after the group the station was licensed for says it has never had any association with the station. The Hispanic American Cultural Council states that Lincy Castillo and two others used their organization's name to secure the CP and license for WZMA-LP, which signed-on in May 2015. HACC filed an identity theft report with the New Britain police on October 29 stating that they first became aware of the station after receiving a property tax bill for it. The filing states that Castillo's apartment and another organization, The New Britain Museum of American Art (which also states it has never had any association with WZMA-LP) were the listed addresses for the station.
