EMF Acquires AC 102.7 Atlantic City

Longport Media has sold CHR “AC 102.7” WWAC Ocean City/Atlantic City NJ to Educational Media Foundation for $570,000. As with all of its acquisitions, EMF plans to convert the station to non-commercial status as it will likely bring the Christian AC “K-Love” format to the station upon closing of the deal. Supreme Court Refuses To Hear Press Communications Appeal Over WBHX Move

The Supreme Court has upheld the Washington D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling in November 2017 over its 2010 application seeking to relocate 99.7 WBHX Tuckerton NJ to 99.3 by declining to hear the case. Law 360 reports that the “rejection of the case was handed down Monday without further explanation, as is customary”. Press Communications sought to move 99.7 WBHX to 99.3, while forcing Equity Communications Rhythmic CHR “99.3 The Buzz” WZBZ Pleasantville to 99.7 via Show Cause Order. The First All-Christmas Launch Of 2017 Is…

For the third time this decade, Equity Communications Soft AC “Easy 93.1” WEZW Wildwood Crest NJ has become the first station nationally to make the move to Christmas Music. Making the change with temperatures in the mid-70’s, WEZW was also first to make the move in 2011 and 2014. Stations preparing for new format launches expedited the timetables the last two years as SummitMedia’s 100.1 W261BX Birmingham was first on 9/25/2015 and Earls Family Broadcasting’s 1220 KCAX/98.1 K251BZ Branson MO began on October 2, 2016. When it was first in 2014, WEZW made the move on the third Friday in October just like this year.

FM Changes Way Media’s recently acquired 89.7 KAWA Sanger TX seeks to increase its coverage in Dallas by upgrading from a Class C1 to C0. KAWA will increase power from 14 to 45 watts from its current 518 meter antenna (Coverage Map).

Station Sales Pine Tree Broadcasting is acquiring two AMs and a translator from two companies held by the estate of Dan Priestly. Innovative Advertising Consultants sells “Oldies 94.1” 1230 WGUY Veazie and 94.1 W231CH Bangor ME, while Waterfront Communications sells News/Talk 1400 WWNZ Veazie for a combined $90,000. Pine Tree will begin operating both stations via Time Brokerage Agreement on Monday, December 28. Pine Tree also owns Soft AC “93.7 The Wave” WRMO Milbridge ME. Rocking M Media is purchasing Oldies 92.7 KWME Wellington and News/Talk 1130 KLEY/100.3 K262CQ Wellington and News/Talk 1550 KKLE Winfield KS from Johnson Enterprises. WOND Adds FM Signal

Longport Media News/Talk 1400 WOND Pleasantville, NJ has signed-on 92.5 W223CO Atlantic City to rebroadcast the station’s programming on the FM band. The translator signal operates with 50 watts at 57.8 meters (Coverage Map). WOND is airs locally originating programming from 6am to 8pm daily including a recently launched 6pm newscast that helped fill the void from the end of local programming on WMGM-TV 40.

Translator Sales River Vale Media Foundation is selling two New York City translator CP’s to Young Dae Kwon’s Sound of Long Island, Inc. The group will pay $5,000 each for 98.3 W252CS Brooklyn and 101.5 W268BY Queens. Both are currently licensed to rebroadcast 93.5 WVIP New Rochelle, NY. Radio Assist Ministry is transferring 69 translators to sister company Edgewater Broadcasting for no cost. Both groups are run by Clark Parrish. Longport Media is purchasing 92.5 W223CO Atlantic City, NJ from Susan Clinton for $26,000. W223CO will rebroadcast News/Talk 1400 WOND Pleasantville. Bustos Media purchases 93.7 K229AD Yakima, WA from Vincent Shiflet for $25,000. The First Christmas Flip Of 2014

Equity Communications Soft AC “Easy 93.1” WEZW Wildwood Crest, NJ is once again the first station to make the seasonal move to All-Christmas music. This is the second time WEZW is been the first station in the country to make the move to All-Christmas for the year as it also was in 2011, when it also made the move on October 17. WEZW serves the southern tip of New Jersey as part of the Atlantic City/Cape May market.

Buzz Returns To Cape May

Equity Communications has dropped the Classic Hits format on 102.3 WSNQ Cape May, NJ and brought back a simulcast of Rhythmic CHR “99.3 The Buzz” WZBZ Pleasantville/Atlantic City. 102.3 has switched to the WGBZ call letters that was paired with the southern simulcast WZBZ had on 105.5 Cape May Court House from 2000 until 2011. 105.5 then flipped to the Classic Hits “Sunny” format that would then be swapped with 102.3 WAIV last August. The “Sunny 102.3” Classic Hits format currently remains online at Sunny1023.com.

FCC Applications 3/26

Most of the applications of note this week were in regards to translators seeking upgrades. Apex Broadcasting is seeking an upgrade of Variety Hits “SC 103.1” WVSC Parris Island, SC from a Class C3 with 11kW at 114.9 meters to a C2 with 50kW at 150 meters. The application also requests the city of license change to Port Royal as Parris Island was absorbed into Port Royal in 2002. After completing its move from 106.5 in Clinton, MO to 106.9 Harrisonville, MO, K295CH seeks to move again to Kansas City where it will operate with 250 watts at 281 meters. The translator would rebroadcast Union Broadcasting’s Sports/Talk “ESPN 1510” KCTE Independence.
