Townsquare Media has launched Classic Rock “Capital 95.9” 1400 WJZN/95.9 W240DH Augusta ME. The station is featuring the syndicated Free Beer & Hot Wings in mornings and is jockless the remainder of the day. Townsquare had purchased the translator from the University of Massachusetts and moved it to Augusta to rebroadcast 1400 WJZN. The former “Kool AM” programming of WJZN continues on 1490 WTVL Waterville. The Augusta market did not have a Classic Rock station of its own with Townsquare’s 102.9 WBLM Portland the closest available. WJZN will also create a local competitor to Blueberry Broadcasting’s Active Rock WTOS trimulcast.
